“El Directorio Revolucionario debe ser visto en sus dos etapas. La primera fue la de José Antonio Echevarría hasta los sucesos de la calle Humboldt número 7, donde murieron todos los sucesores de José Antonio. La segunda etapa fue la del trío que tuvo vínculos antiguos con Rolando Masferrer, compuesto por Enrique Rodríguez Loeche, Faure Chomón Mediavilla y Humberto Castelló.
A partir del fracaso al asalto a Palacio Presidencial ese organismo pasó a llamarse Directorio Revolucionario 13 de Marzo. Fue una decisión tomada entre un grupo de militantes del partido Auténtico y una parte de los militantes del Directorio. Chomón desconoció a los militantes del partido Auténtico.
Hay que destacar que varios de los fundadores del D.R. como Pepín Naranjo, no se sentían a gusto con los antiguos amigos de Masferrer. Se dio el caso de Juan Niury, el que junto a otros se fue a la Sierra Maestra y formaron la columna José Antonio Echevarría. Chomón acusó de traidor a Ignacio González, que era veterano de la Guerra Civil Española, y el único que sabía toda la verdad sobre los planes y organización del asalto al Palacio.
Ignacio González, estaba encargado de la operación de apoyo a los que estaban destinados a entrar al Palacio. Como González, no contaba con los recursos económicos suficientes para alquilar los apartamentos necesarios para acuartelar a sus hombres, sólo confiaba en que su gente asistiera por su cuenta. González llegó al lugar de la cita pero no así su personal, los que no aparecieron, ni tampoco trajeron los equipos.
Astutamente Faure sabía que el hombre era inocente pero le convenía apoderarse del hecho y hacer propaganda, por lo cual lo acusó de traidor, sin importarle los daños que podría hacer al revolucionario español. Pero éste salió absuelto y llegó a ser capitán del ejército rebelde.
Además Faure se autoproclamó segundo jefe militar del asalto al Palacio Presidencial el 13 de Marzo de 1957, usurpando su posición a José Castellano, que fue el verdadero segundo al mando de Carlos Gutiérrez Menoyo. Carlos también murió en ese asalto, pero es necesario señalar que en la primera etapa -la de Echevarría-, el D.R. tenía buena relaciones con Carlos Prío. Hay fotos de ellos dos juntos. Además un grupo de militantes del partido Auténtico cayó en el asalto a palacio.
El jefe civil era Menelao Mora Morales, el que buscó todo lo necesario para llevar a cabo tan valeroso ataque y gracias a sus contactos con los auténticos pudo llevar a cabo esa acción. Después Faure Chomón se robó la acción, haciendo creer al mundo que el ataque al Palacio había sido una acción del Directorio Revolucionario, cosa que él sabía que era falso. Así se ha seguido engañando a las nuevas generaciones.
Estimo que es necesario aclarar algunos puntos:
Plinio Prieto conoció a Eloy Gutiérrez Menoyo por medio del dirigente del Directorio Revolucionario Guillermo Jiménez (Jimenito), natural de Guanabacoa.
En Miami, numerosos militantes del Directorio Revolucionario se hospedaban en el Hotel Trade Winds, propiedad de un hijo del ex ministro auténtico de educación, José Braulio Alemán, sin costo alguno. Allí disponían de varias habitaciones destinadas a la organización D.R. 13 de marzo.
Carlos Prío, le entregó numerosas ametralladoras Thompson calibre 45 con muchas municiones y otros equipos de guerra a Faure Chomón Mediavilla. Ellas fueron llevadas en la expedición de Nuevitas.
Por lo menos, en dos ocasiones, la organización Directorio Revolucionario y las organizaciones de Carlos Prío y Tony Varona firmaron documentos políticos.
Rodríguez Loeche, y el doctor Primitivo Limas, dirigentes reconocidos del D.R., firmaron el llamado Pacto de Caracas y el Pacto de Miami. No existe ningún documento con la firma de algún dirigente del Segundo Frente del Escambray en esos convenios.
En el libro que escribió, el general Ramón Espinoza Martín, De Palacio a la guerra del Escambray, el autor describe a Faure Chomón como el jefe militar con el cual tomó parte en los combates, minimizando a Rolando Cubelas. Rolando desde que llegó al Escambray se quedó y no salió hasta la caída de Batista, y puedo asegurar que participó en la mayoría de los combates con su metralleta Thompson.
Chomón usaba sólo un arma corta y el poco tiempo que estuvo en el Escambray su verdadera arma era una máquina de escribir, y muchos bolígrafos en los bolsillos. Mantuvo muchas reuniones a escondidas con el compañero José. Quiero hacer saber, por ser totalmente necesario, que Ernesto Valdés Muñoz, era sobrino de Honorio Muñoz, quien fue jefe de redacción del periódico Hoy, órgano oficial del P.S.P. Ernesto era mi amigo desde la niñez, fue militante de la U.I.R. junto a Jesús Caballero, Enrique Villegas y Hugo Fernández Barroso. Ernesto se quedó en Dos Arroyos en el Campamento del D.R. a petición mía. No sólo por él supe de las reuniones de su tío Honorio Muñoz con Faure y mucho más.
Los compañeros que participaron en las filas del D.R. en su inmensa mayoría era buenos revolucionarios, con muchísimos méritos y no son pocos los que murieron tanto en las ciudades como en las montañas, amén de ser los más cultos, porque muchos procedían de la universidad. A todos los recuerdo con cariño.
En el listado de los quince expedicionarios que desembarcaron en Nuevitas, no aparece el Dr. Armando Fleites Díaz, Secretario General y de Organización del D.R en la provincia de Las Villas. ¿Será un olvido ?involuntario? o por falta de pudor? Chomón solamente nombra a 14 en su lista del yate Escapade y sin ningún respeto borró al doctor Armando Fleites.
Faure Chomón no menciona al matrimonio formado por René y Ada Azcarreta, en cuyo hogar de Miami muchos de los miembros del D.R. dormían y comían. Este matrimonio que tanto luchó por ayudar a todos los revolucionarios, eran militantes del partido Auténtico y amigos de Carlos Prío.
A lo largo del 1958 hubo muchas reuniones “especiales”, entre ellas las cuatro siguientes:
La primera en Ciudad de México entre Joaquín Ordoqui y un funcionario americano, coordinada por Justo Carrillo, de la cual me enteré en 1978 por confesión de Justo;
La segunda en el poblado de Cruces en Las Villas entre Rolando Masferrer*, el teniente coronel Cornelio Rojas* y Osvaldo Dorticós Torrado*;
En la tercera se reunieron Otten Menzana*, Arnaldo Milián* y Cornelio Rojas en el poblado de Manacas;
Por último en Ciudad de México, el Jefe del B.R.A.C. Castaño*, se reunió con Joaquín Ordoqui y su esposa Eddy García Buchaca.”

5) Arnaldo Milián era miembro del P.S.P.
6) Castaño era jefe del BRAC, organización policíaca encargada de vigilar a los miembro del P.S.P., (comunista)
Espero poder lograr otra entrevista con el señor Redondo González para tratar de seguir esclareciendo esa etapa de la lucha revolucionaria cubana, que el régimen de los Castro ha hecho todo lo posible por ocultar y difamar desde hace ya más de medio siglo.
