Eleven people, including a baby of four months, died during Hurricane Sandy in the east of Cuba.
Of those killed, nine died in Santiago de Cuba and two in the province of Guantanamo, according to a report by the Civil Defense Staff reported on Thursday night. Six were women and five men, including a baby.
The deaths occurred, according to the causes mentioned-by collapsing walls and houses and fallen trees. We investigate further the reasons for the death of five of them.
The report is the first official confirmation document damage from Sandy passing through Cuba. It is expected that in the coming hours the government releases a report on the damage caused to homes, electrical, communications and agriculture.

HURACAN ‘SANDY’: LISTA DE MUERTOS
Once personas, entre ellas un bebé de cuatro meses, murieron durante el paso del huracán Sandy por el oriente de Cuba.
De los fallecidos, nueve perecieron en Santiago de Cuba y dos en la provincia de Guantánamo, de acuerdo con un reporte del Estado Mayor la Defensa Civil divulgado en la noche del jueves. Seis eran mujeres y cinco hombres, incluyendo al bebé.
Las muertes se produjeron -según las causas mencionadas- por derrumbes de paredes y viviendas y caídas de árboles. Se investigan aún los motivos del fallecimiento de cinco de ellos.
El reporte es el primer documento de confirmación oficial sobre los daños provocados por Sandy a su paso por Cuba. Se espera que en las próximas horas el gobierno dé a conocer un informe de los estragos causados en viviendas, sistema eléctrico, comunicaciones y agricultura.
