Habana: Cuban Cinema and Art Deco * Rita Montaner y Art Deco. Cine Cubano.The presence of Art Deco in Cuban cinema is one of the attractions of the World Congress of the art style to be held in Havana from 14 to 21 March together with a presentation of a cycle with one of the first audio tapes of the Island
They will be the Cuban classic films of ‘El Romance del Palmar'(1938), with singer Rita Montaner in the leading role, in which she plays the famous song The Manisero, de Moses Simmons.
With box office record at the time, and joined with a cast of the best of our artists: Maria de los Angeles Santana, Alicia Rico, Carlos Badías and Julito Diaz. In the films are heard music of Ernesto Lecuona and Gonzalo Roig, among others.
In full bloom on this island between the 30 and 50 of the past century, the film shows includes six films, among which Cuba is singing and dancing, with the recently deceased actress Maritza Rosales.
Other exhibits include The Strange Case of Rachel K (1973), Oscar Valdes, starring Mario Balmaseda and Isabel Moreno and Capablanca (1984) by Manuel Herrera, a tribute to Cuban chess genius.
The program includes the screening of the award-winning film La bella del Alhambra (1989) the director Enrique Pineda Barnet, inspired by the novel Rachel’s Song by Miguel Barnet.

It completes a successful man (1984) by Humberto Solas, with figures such as the late first Raquel Revuelta and Daisy Granados.
This, the XII World Congress of Art Deco to the Cuban capital will bring architects and historians in America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Sponsored by the International Collision Art Deco Societies (ICADS), for its acronym in English, and the National Council of Cultural Heritage (CNPC), will be present among the audience over 150 specialists from Argentina, Brazil, USA, Canada, China and Cuba.

La presencia del Art Deco en el cine cubano figura entre los atractivos del Congreso Mundial de ese estilo artístico, a celebrarse en la Habana entre el 14 al 21 de Marzo próximos que prsentará tambien un ciclo con una de las primeras cintas sonoras de la Isla.
Ellas seran las cintas clasicas cubanas El romance del palmar (1938), con la cantante Rita Montaner en el rol protagónico, en el cual interpreta el famoso tema El Manisero, de Moisés Simons.
Con récord de taquilla en su época, unió a un elenco de lujo de nuestros artistas: María de los Ángeles Santana, Alicia Rico, Carlos Badías y Julito Diaz. En la música se escuchan temas de Ernesto Lecuona y Gonzalo Roig, entre otros.
En pleno esplendor en esta isla entre los años 30 y 50 del pasado siglo, la muestra de cine incluye otros seis filmes, entre los que se encuentra Cuba canta y baila, con la recién fallecida actriz Maritza Rosales.
También se exhibirán El extraño caso de Rachel K (1973), de Oscar Valdés, con las actuaciones de Mario Balmaseda e Isabel Moreno, así como Capablanca (1984) de Manuel Herrera, un homenaje al genio cubano del ajedrez.
El programa incluye la proyección del laureado filme La bella del Alhambra (1989) del realizador Enrique Pineda Barnet, inspirada en la novela Canción de Rachel, de Miguel Barnet.
