Los cubanos ‘están cansados y quieren vivir en un país más normal’. Cuba ‘siempre vive un momento histórico, todo es histórico’ en la Isla, dice el escritor.
El escritor Leonardo Padura consideró que “cuando España supere la crisis, tendrá una invasión de cubanos”. Si no ha venido más gente de Cuba “es por la crisis que hay”, dijo en Madrid, donde promociona su novela, “Herejes”, reporta EFE.
Para los cubanos, España resulta muy atractiva porque, aunque Miami está más cerca, las exigencias de los Estados Unidos en materia de inmigración son más severas, opinó el escritor.
Celebró que tras la llamada “actualización migratoria” los cubanos tengan más facilidades para viajar y bromeó que la consecuencia para España será una “invasión de cubanos”, que “son una plaga”.
Los cubanos “están cansados y quieren vivir en un país más normal”, y ese cansancio, que está derivando “en escepticismo y, en algo peor, indiferencia y cinismo”, se debe a que “viven en un país que siempre vive un momento histórico, todo es histórico en Cuba”, declaró Padura.
La sociedad cubana actual es “una sociedad que no cree, algo que es muy visible entre los jóvenes, mientras que mi generación es una generación que vive la pérdida de ilusiones que nunca se cumplieron”, señaló.
En la Isla “se ha perdido mucho talento” por “la incapacidad de adaptar la realidad cubana a la realidad universal”, lamentó.
“El sistema cubano no acepta la crítica de buen grado” y siempre recibe bien que le digan “que es bueno y bonito”, contestó a una pregunta sobre los apoyos que recibe La Habana por parte de artistas españoles.
Afirmó que incluso escritores que son “defensores críticos” del régimen castrista, como Eduardo Galeano, por haber escrito un artículo crítico titulado “Cuba duele” fueron cuestionados por las autoridades del país, a las que les cuesta perdonárselo.
Igualmente, mencionó el “caso Padilla”, que “fracturó a la izquierda occidental, una parte de la cual critica desde hace decenios los abusos del régimen contra los intelectuales”.
Sobre su propia literatura y sus declaraciones dijo: “Siempre estoy al borde del problema”.
Padura describió el modelo económico cubano como una copia del “sistema estalinista”.
Como la economía “dicta el comportamiento del resto de la sociedad, en Cuba hubo prácticas estalinistas en muchos sectores”, argumentó. Las sufrieron escritores como José Lezama Lima y Virgilio Piñera, así como grupos nutridos de artistas, pero también de religiosos y homosexuales, dijo.
Sobre su permanencia en la Isla, Padura opinó que “el desarraigo es uno de los peores castigos que puede sufrir un escritor”, y puso como ejemplo a Guillermo Cabrera Infante, quien murió exiliado en Londres.
“No puedo ser otra cosa que un escritor cubano, y Cuba está en la sustancia de mi literatura”, dijo y agregó que no podría escribir sin pulsar “cómo piensan, cómo viven, cómo hablan” los cubanos y “qué problemas y qué alegrías tienen”.
