Chuchito Valdés competes in Best folk album, with Chuchito Valdes and Eddy Navia. The musician also aims to Latin Jazz award, with Grand Piano Live, a category where he confronts his father , Chucho Valdes, who presents the album Border -Free .
Leo Brouwer was nominated for best contemporary classical composition with the work String Quartet # 5, which appears on the album Beatlerianas , while Paquito D’ Rivera competes with Dances From The New World in Best instrumental album .
Check Cut pa’lla (Hands Pa’rriba), Pitbull Featuring Papaya, is a finalist in Best Urban interpretation . In the list of new artists Cuban appears Leslie Cartaya , while Alex Cuba aspires to Best music video short version, with the piece “You are”.
Without changing one iota of the frozen political and autoembargo’s policy, one exhausted and hopelessly in a funeral procession in the official newspaper ‘Granma’, the nominees of the diaspora do not exist. An article in Thursday’s edition under the title “Cuba again be present at the Latin Grammys” only mentioned as candidates for the award for Cubans living on the island. Más de una decena de cubanos aparecen en las candidaturas. Los ganadores de la 14ª entrega se revelarán el 21 de noviembre en Las Vegas.
Mas de una decena de nominaciones obtuvo la música cubana este miércoles en Los Ángeles, donde se dieron a conocer los candidatos a los Premios Grammy Latinos 2013.
Encabezan la lista cubana los virtuosos Chucho Valdés, Arturo Sandoval, Paquito D’Rivera y Leo Brouwer.
En el apartado de Mejor álbum de salsa, la sequía del género se pone de manifiesto: por Cuba solo aparece Albita, con su disco Una mujer que canta.

Sin embargo, los cubanos copan prácticamente la categoría Mejor álbum tropical tradicional con cuatro de los cinco aspirantes: Arturo Sandoval (Un siglo de pasión), Septeto Santiaguero (Vamos pa’ la fiesta), Miriam Ramos con Barbarito Torres, Ernán López-Nussa y Rolando Luna (La canción cubana) y el Septeto Nacional Ignacio Piñeiro (La Habana tiene su son).
Los compositores Amaury Gutiérrez y Jorge Luis Piloto, por su parte, están nominados a la Mejor canción del año por las piezas Lo mejor que hay en mi vida y Si yo fuera tú, respectivamente.
En Mejor canción tropical aparecen nominadas Para celebrar, de Jorge Luis Piloto (con Sergio George), y Si yo fuera tú, también de Piloto.
Chuchito Valdés compite en Mejor álbum folclórico, con Chuchito Valdés y Eddy Navia. El músico también aspira al premio en Jazz latino, con Grand Piano Live, una categoría donde se enfrenta a su padre, Chucho Valdés, que presenta el disco Border-Free.
Leo Brouwer fue nominado a la Mejor composición clásica contemporánea con la obra String Quartet # 5, que aparece en el disco Beatlerianas; mientras que Paquito D’Rivera concursa con Dances From The New World en Mejor álbum instrumental.
El corte Echa Pa’llá (Manos Pa’rriba), de Pitbull Featuring Papayo, es uno de los finalistas en Mejor interpretación urbana. En la lista de los artistas nuevos aparece la cubana Leslie Cartaya, mientras que Alex Cuba aspira al Mejor vídeo musical versión corta, con la pieza Eres tú.
Sin cambiar un ápice de las política congeladas y el autoembargo de una política agotada e irremediablemente funeraria, para el diario Granma, los nominados de la diáspora no existen. Un artículo publicado en la edición de este jueves bajo el título de “Vuelve Cuba estar presente en los Grammy Latinos” solo menciona como aspirantes al galardón a los cubanos que viven en la isla. El tratamiento del tema en el diario Juventud Rebelde sigue la misma conducta de silencio sobre los exiliados. El cuartito esta igualito! como dijera la canción popular.
