El pinareño Juan Miguel Miranda se unirá a su coterráneo Michel Abreu en la pelota profesional de Japón.

Los peloteros cubanos están de moda y no solo en Grandes Ligas. El equipo Luchadores Nippon Ham anunció la firma del pinareño Juan Miguel Miranda, quien pasó con notoriedad una prueba durante el entrenamiento de otoño.

Según informó el diario The Japan Times, el acuerdo entre ambas partes es por un año y un monto estimado en unos $509 mil dólares.

En Cuba, Miranda, jugó cuatro Series Nacionales, con Pinar del Río, donde bateo para 301 con 57 cuadrangulares y 205 impulsadas. Estuvo en Grandes Ligas con los Yankees de Nueva York (2008-2010) y los Diamondbacks de Arizona (2011). Sus promedios en las Mayores registran un discreto 226, con 11 cuadrangulares y 37 empujadas.

Arrasando en Venezuela

En el juego inaugural de la contienda, entró por la puerta grande al superar a los Bravos de Margarita, con pizarra de 8×1 y excelente faena en 5 capítulos completos. Entre los cubanos que juegan actualmente en Venezuela está también marcando el paso el camagüeyano Leslie Anderson, primera base de Caribes de Anzoátegui, actualmente líder de los bateadores con promedio de 413 (de 63-26). Anderson ha estado por años en busca de una oportunidad como titular en la franquicia de los Rays de Tampa Bay. El otrora primera base del equipo Cuba acumula cuatro cuadrangulares, 14 fletadas para el plato e igual cantidad de carreras anotadas.
