U.S. President Barack Obama met Friday with Cuban dissidents who live on the island, reported Radio Martí .
Berta Soler , leader of the Ladies in White, and Guillermo Fariñas , both the European Parliament’s Sakharov Prize , held talks with the president at the home of Jorge Mas Santos , director of the Cuban American National Foundation .
Speaking in advance of the interview, Fariñas considered that the most important thing is that Obama is recognizing internal dissent.
” We ‘re going to ask ,” he said , ” not to negotiate with the Castro dictatorship under any circumstances .”
Meanwhile , Berta Soler said the regime ” does not listen to anyone, neither dissent nor his people,” but said his orders to President Obama on behalf of the people of Cuba , can come true.
“God has opened doors and given me the possibility to meet with President Obama and is very important , because it is good to listen to us ,” he said .
Soler said freedom of the island depends on the Cubans , but it’s good to have the support of governments.

‘Hemos empezado a ver cambios en la isla’, dijo el presidente de EEUU en el primer encuentro que mantiene con la oposición cubana en sus cinco años en la Casa Blanca.
El presidente de Estados Unidos, Barack Obama, se reunió este viernes con opositores cubanos que viven en la Isla, informó Radio Martí.
Berta Soler, líder de las Damas de Blanco, y Guillermo Fariñas, ambos Premio Sajarov del Parlamento Europeo, sostuvieron conversaciones con el presidente en la casa de Jorge Mas Santos, director de la Fundación Nacional Cubano Americana.
En declaraciones previas a la entrevista, Fariñas consideró que lo más importante es que Obama está reconociendo a la disidencia interna.
“Le vamos a pedir”, dijo, “que no negocie con la dictadura castrista bajo ningún concepto”.
Por su parte, Berta Soler dijo que el régimen “no escucha a nadie, ni a la disidencia ni a su pueblo”, pero aseguró que sus pedidos al presidente Obama, en nombre del pueblo de Cuba, pueden hacerse realidad.
“Dios me ha abierto las puertas y me ha dado esa posibilidad de poder encontrarme con el presidente Obama y es muy importante, porque es bueno que nos escuche”, señaló.
Soler dijo que la libertad de la Isla depende de los cubanos, pero es bueno contar con el apoyo de los gobiernos.
Jorge Mas Santos, presidente de la Fundación Nacional Cubano Americana, calificó de “privilegio” el hecho de que el presidente de Estados Unidos pueda conocer de primera mano el trabajo de la oposición cubana.
Obama viajó a Miami para actos de recaudación de fondos del Partido Demócrata.
Según EFE, el presidente afirmó en la reunión que Estados Unidos ha “empezado a ver cambios” en Cuba.

Obama destacó la relajación de las restricciones que se han producido en las últimas fechas en Cuba y añadió que Estados Unidos necesita ser “creativo” e imaginativo en sus relaciones bilaterales con la Isla.
El presidente estadounidense lamentó el creciente “partidismo” que se vive en Washington en relación con Cuba, que a su juicio bloquea la posibilidad de avances en esta materia.
