In the book you say that all comedians are rebels and protesters … Why?

Alexis Valdés ha escrito un libro donde nos dedica todo su humor.
No le ha bastado triunfar en el mundo del cine como actor y como realizador con esa divertida comedia del 2005 Un Rey en La Habana.
No le bastó reinar en las noches televisivas del sur de La Florida con sus programas Seguro que yes (Canal 41 América Tevé) y más tarde con Esta noche tu night (Mega TV).
No se ha conformado con editar un disco con su música, y parece que tampoco le agota convertirse en un fenómeno teatral en Miami, con cuatro meses de lleno completo con el monólogo El cavernícola.
Ha sembrado árboles (reales y de humor), ha tenido dos hijos y ha escrito un libro titulado Con todo mi humor, Alexis Valdés, que son las palabras con las que despide más de 150 páginas de confesiones divertidas sobre su infancia, su barrio en La Habana, el mundo televisivo, la vida, el humor, el mundo en general, y donde dedica no pocas líneas a su padre, el gran actor Leonel Valdés, inspiración de su carrera artística.
En el inicio mismo de esta conversación escrita que parecen memorias sin serlo, el comediante cubano se pregunta las razones de Con todo mi humor, Alexis Valdés, cuando inquiere: “¿Y por qué tendría que escribir un libro? ¿No lo puedo comprar ya escrito?” Ese es el tono que acompañará al lector durante toda la aventura que nos propone Alexis Valdés en esta primera incursión en el mundo del libro.
Ya antes había manifestado otra gran duda: “¿Qué escribo? ¿Un libro de autoayuda? ¿Un libro de cocina? ¿Una novela porno? ¿O mejor monólogos de humor?”, para decidirse al final a escribir “Una biografía idiota de autoayuda porno con monólogos de humor en la cocina”.
Y fue en su cocina, donde tanto humor ha cocinado, donde le dejé por escrito estas preguntas que él respondió amablemente, para autoayudarme o ayudarme a pagar mi auto, sin que hubiera nada de pornografía y sí buenos monólogos repletos de simpatía filosófica.
¿Escribir un libro es como desnudarse en público?
Es desnudarse en casa, hacerse una foto y publicarla en facebook.
¿En ‘Con todo mi humor, Alexis Valdés’ decidiste contarlo todo sobre tu vida o te autocensuraste?
Toda mi vida es un poco larga ya, y no toda es divertida, y yo tengo la necesidad, por deformación, de entretener. Creo que uno escoge los mejores pasajes, o los más atractivos. Es como una película, se ponen las 40 o 60 escenas que de manera más atractiva cuentan la peripecia del protagonista. Yo lo hice con anécdotas y monólogos de humor.
¿El humor es una bendición o una maldición?
El humor es una superbendición. Es la bendición de las bendiciones. Si no existiera el humor los índices de suicidio serian altísimos. Mira cómo se entretiene la gente, o viendo videos musicales o viendo videos divertidos, por eso es tan popular youtube. La música y el humor ya son bienes de primera necesidad.
En el libro afirmas que todos los cómicos son rebeldes y contestatarios… ¿Por qué?
Porque un cómico que se pliega al poder es muy aburrido. No da risa ser oficialista, o lamerle el aquello al jefe. Decía Martí, el humor es un látigo con cascabeles en la punta. Los cascabeles son la risa, pero el látigo tiene que azotar, y ¿a quién vas a azotar, a los que están jodidos? Eso es imperdonable.
Chaplin y Cantinflas lo tenían claro.
Pero no criticar a un poder pagado por otro poder, no, hay que ir contra todos. Sería lo más honesto. Digo yo.
¿Crees que tu libro te acercará más a la gente?
Estoy seguro. Al menos a los que lo lean. Ese libro es más yo que cualquier programa de televisión. No sé qué tiene el escribir que te hace ser más cercano. Debe ser que no tienes el estrés de la cámara y todo el tinglado.
¿Qué es tu libro, por fin: una novela porno o un libro de autoayuda?
Toda vida es porno, al menos en los pensamientos, y toda vida es autoayuda, porque el primer instinto es el de supervivencia. En esta vida no pensamos más que en salvarnos, y en tener buen sexo. No sé qué es más difícil.
¿Hay vida más allá de la televisión?
Por supuesto. Pero yo no soy un detractor de la televisión. La televisión es un invento maravilloso… que a veces, muchas, está en manos del demonio, y se vuelve terrible.
Es como la energía nuclear, que en principio es buena, pero en las manos inadecuadas…
Por último… ¿Qué duele más cuando se escribe un libro?
La espalda. Decididamente. Me imagino la espalda de los pobres Vargas Llosa o García Márquez… Bueno, en lo de pobres no atiné mucho.
Días y días ahí sentado, escribiendo y reescribiendo, y al final nunca alcanzas tu ideal. Eso también duele. Pero alguien me dijo una vez, confórmate con el good enough, suficientemente bueno, y así creo que quedó… modestia aparte.
