Los cubanos Hairon Socarrás y Eliécer Castillo ganaron por nocaut sus peleas en una accidentada velada “Así nacen los campeones”, organizada por Pintoso Box en La Scala del Hotel Four Ambassadors, en Miami, informa el diario El Nuevo Herald.
Socarrás (9-0-1, 6 KO) derrotó en el primer asalto al dominicano Carlos Fulgencio, y el peso pesado Castillo (33-7-2, 17 KO) venció en el segundo a Willie Chisolm.
El también cubano Sullivan Barrera estuvo a punto de no poder subir al cuadrilátero después de que Joell Godfrey se negara a pelar con él argumentando problemas con el contrato de su entrenador.
Finalmente, el combate se celebró y Barrera (10-0, 6 KO) venció por decisión unánime de los jueces.
Otros dos púgiles de la Isla programados en la cartelera vieron frustrados sus combates. El oponente de Leduán Barthelemy no se presentó y el de Idel Torriente acudió a pelear con 20 libras por encima del peso establecido, de 160.
“Idel está destruido”, aseguró una fuente muy cercana al púgil citada por el diario. “Es la segunda vez que intenta debutar y se frustra. Es una falta de respeto total la de su oponente”.
