MEXICO BUSCA “”mas pragmatismo” en sus relaciones con Cuba
El presidente mexicano, Enrique Peña Nieto, realizará la semana próxima una visita de Estado a Cuba que buscará aprovechar el “momento clave” para profundizar las relaciones entre los dos gobiernos, dijo la subsecretaria mexicana de Relaciones Exteriores para América Latina y el Caribe, Vanessa Rubio, reporta EFE.
El gobernante viajará a la Isla para asistir a la II Cumbre de la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños (CELAC), el 28 y 29 de enero, y después extenderá su estancia en La Habana.
“La nueva relación de México con Cuba parte de una relación histórica. No hay que perder la perspectiva de la fotografía y ver la perspectiva de la película de lo que ha sido esa relación, y esa película es muy cercana, muy fuerte, muy intensa”, justificó Rubio.
El viaje de Peña Nieto a La Habana ha estado precedido de un intercambio de visitas de los cancilleres. En noviembre, el cubano Bruno Rodríguez estuvo en México para la firma de ocho acuerdos.
Peña Nieto y Raúl Castro los revisarán junto a otros temas del marco jurídico para, por ejemplo, renovar un tratado de extradición entre los dos países que data de 1925, agregó la alta funcionaria mexicana.
Los documentos firmados en los últimos meses fortalecieron el Acuerdo de Complementación Económica para incluir más de 3.200 productos adicionales y se adoptaron pasos para la financiación de exportaciones.
“Ya se tenía ese esquema de financiamiento de exportaciones, pero se incrementó la línea en 7 millones de dólares más, y ahora tiene 27,7 millones de dólares”, dijo la subsecretaria.
Anticipó que, con el fin de fomentar el comercio y las inversiones bilaterales, en febrero o marzo viajará a Cuba una misión de alto nivel mexicana encabezada por el secretario de Economía, Ildefonso Guajardo.
Participarán en la misión representantes financieros y “un grupo nutrido de empresarios” que buscarán conocer “lo que está pasando en Cuba” para saber cómo invertir en la Isla y cómo funcionan los esquemas de operación, dijo.
“Hay una decisión absoluta por parte de ambos presidentes de fortalecer el diálogo político (…) pero también un convencimiento de que la relación, en esta coyuntura, tiene que tomar un cariz más pragmático”, agregó.
Nuevas leyes implementadas por el General Raul Castro, presidente actual de Cuba, “se ve como un proceso que va a contar con el respaldo de México para ejercerse en los términos cubanos, en los tiempos cubanos”, añadió la subsecretaria.
Entre esas medidas destacó la decisión de eliminar la dualidad monetaria, aún pendiente.
Esa decisión, a juicio de Rubio, facilitará las operaciones de carácter comercial en la Isla para los empresarios y para quienes la visitan.
