UNA VIEJA ORGANIZACIÓN LLAMADA “UNEAC”
La UNEAC agoniza.
La Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba desaparecerá con el castrismo, aunque puede que lo haga antes.

Un nuevo congreso —convocado para abril— parece homenajear a Friedrich Nietzsche, aquel genio que enloqueciera, después de afirmar que “la demencia en el individuo es algo raro; en los grupos, en los partidos, en los pueblos, en las épocas, es la regla”.
Nada más loco que proponerse salvar a un muerto. Porque basta leer los estatutos de la UNEAC o las discusiones de hace unos días en la asamblea de la Asociación de Cine, Radio y Televisión, para convencerse de que se trata de un enfermo terminal.
Pero no se trata solo de valorar las venturas y desventuras de la UNEAC en su más de medio siglo de existencia, donde hay desde teatro bufo hasta escenas dignas de Dostoievski y Grossman, Artaud y Beckett… Aunque desde luego que esa valoración es necesaria para la historia de la cultura cubana, desde sus brillos iniciales en los primeros años 60 hasta la nauseabunda mendicidad actual.
En el 2014 lo urgente es fundamentar por qué debe morir, al inicio de la restauración casi borbónica de las leyes inversionistas y de las que propician insondables desigualdades, que los “izquierdistas” suelen llamar “neoliberales”. Y sobre todo pensar en qué debe venir después.
Por informaciones de algunos de sus miembros, no solo de la Asociación de Escritores, sé que los servicios de la UNEAC tienden a ser superfluos. Basten tres evidencias: La nueva ley que autoriza los viajes al exterior hace innecesario tramitarlos por allí; la compraventa de casas desapareció las esperanzas inmobiliarias, así como la venta de autos a precios marcianos acabó con las cartas de solicitud y justificativas de ingresos; la comercialización por la izquierda de turnos médicos y medicinas, reservaciones turísticas y de pasajes nacionales, inutilizó la “atención a miembros”. A lo que se suma —más bien se resta— la crisis económica de Ediciones Unión y las revistas; los fuertes rumores de que las ayudas en CUC desaparecerán cuando se unifiquen las monedas.
Aunque tal vez lo definitivo para la muerte de la UNEAC se halle en que a la dictadura ya no le es útil su existencia, porque es fuente inequívoca de disidencias. Protestas y cartas de reclamación o denuncia tienen más eco porque ruedan desde una supuesta organización no gubernamental (ONG), hoy solo subordinada en su dirigencia a los lineamientos del Partido y su engañoso Poder Popular. Los simples miembros desde hace décadas disimulan, se desentienden y burlan, algunos hasta se rebelan o exilian.
No suministrarle al enfermo las medicinas que necesita, interrumpirle el tratamiento, debe estar entre los objetivos de los ancianos políticos y sus pragmáticos descendientes. La UNEAC sobra. Hasta molesta. Ni hay con qué, ni tienen necesidad en las postrimerías de cambiar seguridad económica por docilidad. Camajanes y vagos la pasarán peor.
Porque la severa política de ahorro, dictada por la miseria, se une a evitar peligros, aunque el miedo convertido en costumbre aleje subversiones. Si cada mes son miles los trabajadores que pasan al desempleo, ¿qué impediría dejar que la UNEAC se las ingenie como los cuentapropistas o los cooperativistas?
Podría recomendársele a los empleados de 17 y H que aprendan de Fefita, la privada peluquera de Ban Ki-moon.secretario General de la ONU, en el Salón Correo; que renten la habitación del fondo o se muden para un apartamento más pequeño y vayan tirando con la diferencia; que den clases a domicilio de “literatura creativa” (sic)…
Los tiempos aquellos donde Guillén tenía más de “lo que tenía que tener” y escondía que no era “un hombre puro”, son recuerdos similares a “crear riqueza con la conciencia” y demás trampas del caudillo, esas sí que “extrapoladas de modelos ajenos” como el soviético, según puede leerse en la entreguista, lacayuna constitución socialista de 1976.
Merecida agonía. Muerte próxima… Otro control menos en el triste panorama nacional, donde apenas hay tiempo para pensar en otra cosa que no sea arroz y desodorante, cepillo de diente y coger las goteras antes de que otra temporada de lluvias pudra los tablones del apuntalamiento.
¿Y después?
Vendrá lo normal, no lo impuesto en las “Palabras a los intelectuales” del Castro mayor, en 1961. Es decir, surgirán espontáneamente, por necesidades de músicos, pintores, cineastas, actores, bailarines, escritores…, pequeñas asociaciones autónomas que defenderán ante todo sus singulares intereses, sin papá Estado subvencionando, dando órdenes.
En el actual mundo de twitter, mensajes de texto, skype y blogs instantáneos —donde lo banal es el poco acceso a internet— las asociaciones tienden a ser cada día más representativas de intereses particulares, defienden zonas pertinentes, específicas. De ahí que la UNEAC sea, además, poco funcional. Escasamente eficaz a causa de agrupar intereses muy disímiles, los que diferencian, por ejemplo, a un bailarín de un pintor.
Igualmente, cuando muera junto al castrismo, los políticos disminuirán su poder sobre artistas y escritores, porque ejercer la censura les será infinitamente más difícil que en estas décadas. La desaparición del estatismo y el surgimiento de diversos intereses económicos, sujetarán groseras manipulaciones, reducirán riesgos al aumentar opciones, denunciarán abusos al tener acceso a los medios de comunicación.
Habrá hasta absoluta libertad para los que aún sigan creyendo en los Castro y su legado, porque podrán fundar su unión o sindicato o cofradía, si aceptan vivir en un estado de derecho y no tienen deudas con la justicia por delaciones, robos, chantajes, tráfico de influencias…
De eso se trata, de una palabra que aún suena hueca en Cuba porque allí tiene más huecos que un colador: democracia. Bajo la certeza de que se trata de una dura evolución y no de un proceso kafkiano, como acaban de denunciar en la asamblea de la Asociación de Cine, Radio y Televisión; para preocupación del Granma, del Partido y sus intelectuales fanáticos o mercenarios.
Porque los artistas y escritores genuinos, de infatigable vocación creadora, nada tienen que temer ante el eminente fin de la UNEAC. Tal agonía es parte de la que sufre un sistema fallido, una ideología obsoleta, par de hermanos autócratas.
Aunque la agonía pueda prolongarse, la eutanasia revolotea sobre el próximo congreso de la UNEAC… Quizás T. S. Eliot estaba equivocado y abril no es, para nada, el mes más cruel.
