OPINION: Helados “COPPELIA”‘ solo un recuerdo.
Así como estamos obligados a tener un solo partido, en Coppelia nos imponen por estos días un solo sabor: vainilla. También el peor de todos, o el que menos gusta a los cubanos.
“Das vueltas y más vueltas tratando de hallar opciones, hasta que te rindes, comenta Enrique, estudiante de la Facultad de Economía. Mientras, una joven que comparte nuestra mesa, añade: Apenas te sientas, notas la mala atención de los empleados, y encima también la estafa. Esta bola de helado que me estoy comiendo está hueca por dentro, y cada ensalada cuesta 10 pesos ( 50 centavos de cuc), es un descaro. Después hablan de ética, en la televisión.
Sin embargo, no todo funciona mal en esta hermosa, maltratada y subutilizada heladería habanera. Existe un salón exclusivo, llamado Las cuatro joyas (en clara alusión a las cuatro bailarinas clásicas cubanas Mirta Pla, Aurora Bosch, Loipa Araújo y Josefina Méndez), con precios no accesibles para el ciudadano corriente, donde hay variedad de sabores: caramelo, almendra, rizado de chocolate, vainilla chips, chocolate Los precios oscilan entre 1.30 y 4.05 pesos convertibles (cuc).
En la tabla de servicios de este salón hay varias ofertas en que aparece tapado el formato de bola, pues, según dicen allí, se despacha de acuerdo con la especialidad. Pero el objetivo parece ser estafar a los clientes (sobre todo extranjeros) con respecto al precio del boleado. La bola grande se la cambian por la bola pequeña, que cuesta la mitad del precio que les obligan a pagar.

También, en la cremería estatal “Yangtsé”, ubicada en 26 y 23, Vedado, hay helados de un solo sabor. Allí consumen generalmente los vecinos: “Al menos aquí, a diferencia de Coppelia, se disfruta de un poquito de aire acondicionado”, comentan la pareja de Dulce y Sergio.
Por su lado, lejos de las decadentes cremerias estatales, se han abierto otras privadas. Una muy llamativa se llama “Éxtasis Tropical”, situada en la avenida 21, entre 44 y 42, municipio de Playa. Allí hay 10 sabores de helado, además de una variedad de siropes: menta, caramelo, fresa y chocolate, todo a precios módicos en moneda nacional.

Hay gran afluencia de público: “Quien pasa por aquí, se queda enganchado”, comenta Albertico, camarero. En tanto, Lolita, cliente asidua, afirma: “Hay buen gusto y buena atención. Con una ensalada de bola grande te llenas, comerse una segunda ensalada es un reto”.
“Nieves” es el nombre de un helado popularizado por la telenovela brasileña Avenida Brasil, que transmite en estos días la TV Cubana. Consumirlo en “Éxtasis Tropical”, produce satisfacción.
Hay otras cremerias privadas, también buenas, como “Eyeyei”, en 19 y 52, en Playa; y “Mundo de Cristal”, en Cotorro. Compiten por los clientes, brindan buen servicio y tienen helados de distintos sabores.
Mientras, en Coppelia, inaugurada por el gobierno revolucionario en 1966, a bombo y platillo, con un menú que ofrecía 54 sabores y múltiples combinaciones, y que alguna vez fue conocida como La Catedral del Helado, desde hace mucho tiempo reinan el mal servicio y la estafa, bolas huecas y de un solo sabor.

OPINION : Ice Cream ” COPPELIA ” just a memory .
Just as we are required to have a single party in Coppelia these days we impose one flavor : vanilla. Also the worst of all , or the least like the Cubans.
