EL GOBIERNO COMUNISTA de Cuba declara feriado al ‘Viernes Santo’.
El gobierno de Raúl Castro saldó su deuda con el anterior papa Benedicto XVI al incluir el viernes santo como feriado de forma definitiva en el nuevo Código de Trabajo, informó este martes el diario oficial Granma.
“El pasado mes de diciembre la Asamblea Nacional del Poder Popular (Parlamento) aprobó la Ley No. 116 ‘Código de Trabajo’, la cual establece como día de receso laboral el viernes santo de cada año”, dijo el periódico.
Durante su visita a Cuba del 26 al 28 de marzo de 2012, Benedicto XVI (2005-2013) solicitó a Castro que declarara feriado el viernes santo. El mandatario accedió de forma “excepcional” hasta que el Parlamento considerara la cuestión.
Aquel día de 2013 no se trabajó, mientras que este año el ministerio del Trabajo lo decretó feriado “considerando que el citado Código entrará en vigor a partir del 1 de junio próximo”.
Las procesiones católicas fueron suprimidas en Cuba en 1961 y el feriado de la Navidad en 1969, como parte del enfrentamiento que se desarrolló en esa década entre el gobierno comunista de Fidel Castro y la Iglesia Católica.
Ambas cosas fueron restituidas tras la visita del papa Juan Pablo II en 1998, que marcó el deshielo en las relaciones Iglesia-Estado, un proceso de aproximación que mantuvo Raúl Castro al suceder a su hermano Fidel en el poder en 2006.

CUBA’S COMMUNIST GOVERNMENT DECLARES HOLIDAY TO ‘GOOD FRIDAY’.
The government of Raul Castro paid off his debt to the previous Pope Benedict XVI to include Good Friday as a holiday for good in the new Labour Code , reported Tuesday the official newspaper Granma .
“Last December the National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament) passed the Law No. 116 ‘ Labour Code ‘ which provides a day of work break each year the Holy Friday,” the newspaper said.
During his visit to Cuba from 26 to 28 March 2012 , Benedict XVI ( 2005-2013 ) asked Castro to declare holiday on Good Friday . The president agreed on an ” outstanding” until Parliament considered the issue .
On that day in 2013 is not worked , while this year the Labor Ministry decreed holiday ” considering that the Code shall enter into force on 1 June next .”
Catholic processions were abolished in Cuba in 1961 and the Christmas holiday in 1969 , as part of the confrontation that took place in the decade between the communist government of Fidel Castro and the Catholic Church.
Both were returned after the visit of Pope John Paul II in 1998 , which marked a thaw in Church and State , a process approach that kept Raul Castro succeeded his brother Fidel in power in 2006 relationships.
