DELEGACION COMMERCIAL ESTADOUNIDENSE BUSCANDO OPORTUNIDADES EN CUBA.
Una delegación de la Cámara de Comercio de Estados Unidos, encabezada por su presidente, Thomas Donohue, visita desde hoy La Habana, donde se ha reunido con representantes del Gobierno cubano, informó la televisión estatal.
En sus primeros contactos, la comitiva estadounidense sostuvo conversaciones con los ministros cubanos de Relaciones Exteriores, Bruno Rodríguez, y de Comercio Exterior y la Inversión Extranjera, Rodrigo Malmierca, según el reporte televisivo que mostró imágenes del encuentro.
La primera delegación de la Cámara de Comercio estadounidense que visita Cuba desde 1999 llega a conocer la situación económica y las oportunidades de negocios que ofrece actualmente la isla caribeña, señaló esa institución previo al viaje.
Donohue viajó acompañado por el director del consejo directivo de la Cámara de Comercio, Steve Van Andel, el director financiero de la Corporación Cargill, Marcel Smits, y otros ejecutivos.
En la estadía en Cuba, la comitiva tiene previsto visitar centros vinculados al proceso de actualización del modelo económico de la isla caribeña, y también tienen previsto reunirse con empresarios, cooperativas privadas, académicos y líderes religiosos.
Donohue indicó que el viaje les dará “una idea de primera mano sobre los cambios en las políticas económicas y si están afectando a la posibilidad de hacer negocios allí”, en un comunicado divulgado en Washington la semana pasada.
“Queremos saber más sobre esas reformas, determinar si han traído cambios reales y duraderos y encontrar formas de animar a la construcción del sector privado cubano”, agregó el titular de la Cámara de Comercio norteamericana.
El viaje cuenta con la autorización del departamento del Tesoro, que regula las licencias de viaje a la isla debido al embargo que el Gobierno estadounidense impuso a Cuba hace cinco décadas.
El anuncio coincidió con la carta pública que casi medio centenar de figuras de distinto signo político, empresarios, militares e intelectuales dirigieron al presidente de EE.UU., Barack Obama, con la petición de más medidas para propiciar un acercamiento que contribuya a profundizar los incipientes cambios en la isla.
El presidente de la principal patronal de empresas de Estados Unidos dijo que a su regreso trasmitirán sus impresiones a legisladores estadounidenses y miembros de la comunidad empresarial.

US TRADE DELEGATION LOOKING FOR OPPORTUNITIES IN CUBA.
A delegation of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States , led by its president, Thomas Donohue , check out today Havana, where he met with representatives of the Cuban government , state television reported .

” We want to know more about these reforms , whether brought real and lasting change and find ways to encourage the construction of Cuban private sector ,” the head of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce .
The trip has been authorized Treasury Department , which regulates the licensing of travel to the island due to the embargo the U.S. government imposed on Cuba for five decades.
The announcement coincided with the public letter that nearly fifty different political figures , businessmen , soldiers and intellectuals went to U.S. President Barack Obama, with a request for more measures to encourage an approach that contributes to increasing the incipient changes in the island.
The president of the largest employers of U.S. companies said that his return will transmit their impressions to U.S. lawmakers and members of the business community.
