CUBA CONFISCA SIETE BARCOS EXTRANJEROS ABANDONADOS. TRES PANAMEÑOS.
Cuba confiscó siete barcos mercantes extranjeros, entre ellos tres panameños, que permanecían abandonados desde hace años en puertos de la isla y representaban un “peligro” para la navegación y el medio ambiente, informó este miércoles la prensa local.
“Al menos siete buques comerciales extranjeros fueron declarados en los últimos meses en estado de abandono” e “ingresados al patrimonio del Estado cubano”, al amparo de una Ley de la Navegación que el Parlamento cubano aprobó en 2003, señaló el diario Juventud Rebelde.
Esos barcos, que fueron “desatendidos por sus propietarios, armadores o navieros”, representaban un peligro “real o potencial para la navegación y el medio ambiente”, añadió el periódico.
Precisó que los buques abandonados tenían bandera de Panamá (3), Togo (2), Camboya (1) y Tanzania (1), y que seis de ellos serán “enviados a desguace”, mientras el tanquero panameño Nuristef H., fondeado desde septiembre 2010 en el puerto de Mariel, 50 km al oeste de La Habana, será asignado a la empresa estatal cubana Almacenes Universales S.A., indicó.
“Sin operaciones comerciales y sin dotación mínima de seguridad, su estado físico deja mucho que desear” y “el armador del buque adeuda a la Sucursal de Servicios Portuarios del Mariel 149.010 pesos convertibles (igual cifra en dólares) y 12.852,88 pesos (514 dólares) por derecho de atraque” y otros servicios, apuntó.
Los otros barcos panameños son el tanquero Aqua Norteño, atracado desde 2001 en el Puerto de Nicaro, en el noreste de la isla, y el mercante Ragam, semihundido en Bajo Linar, en el extremo oeste del país.

Cuba seized seven foreign merchant ships, including three Panamanians who remained abandoned for years in the island ports and represented a “danger” for sailing and the environment, said Wednesday the local press.
