El cantante y actor mexicano Pedro Vargas será homenajeado en ocasión de los 25 años de su muerte, en el Festival Internacional de Boleros de La Habana. Entre las actividades conmemorativas se encuentran galas artísticas y la presentación del libro “Pedro Vargas: 100 Años de música”.
En el marco del 25 Festival Internacional de Boleros celebrado en La Habana, Cuba, se le rindieron este jueves múltiples homenajes al cantante mexicano Pedro Vargas.
Vargas, conocido como “El ruiseñor de las Américas”, viajó por primera vez a Cuba en 1933 y en sus incontables visitas se hospedaba en el Hotel Nacional de La Habana, que este jueves inauguró con su nombre una suite, donde se alojó en repetidas ocasiones.
“Mi padre adoró Cuba, se hospedó en este hotel muchas veces y sé que este hotel atesora la memoria de todos los artistas del mundo que han pasado por aquí”, dijo Pedro Vargas (hijo) a periodistas, quien estuvo acompañado por su hermano Marcelo, un nieto y bisnietos del cantante.
De su parte, Marcelo Vargas afirmó que estar en la isla “es realmente regresar a un segundo hogar (…) todos nosotros vivimos alguna parte de nuestra vida en Cuba. Entonces para nosotros regresar a Cuba es muy importante”.
Entre las otras actividades conmemorativas, se encuentra la presentación del libro “Pedro Vargas. 100 años de música”, en el Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, y una placa que será develada en el famoso cabaré habanero “Tropicana”, donde el cantante se presentó varias veces.

Pedro Vargas nació el 29 de abril de 1906 en el estado de Guanajuato, México. Inició su vida artística como tenor y en Cuba son memorables sus interpretaciones a dúo con Benny Moré de melodías como “Obsesión” y “La vida es un sueño”. También, compartió escenario con artistas de la talla de Rosa Fornés, Bola de Nieve y Ernesto Lecuona.

Mexican singer and actor Pedro Vargas will be honored on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his death, at the International Festival of Boleros Havana. Among the commemorative activities are artistic galas and launch of “Pedro Vargas: 100 Years of Music”.
In the framework of the 25th International Festival of Boleros held in Havana, Cuba, he surrendered Thursday many tributes to Mexican singer Pedro Vargas.
Vargas, known as “The Nightingale of the Americas”, first traveled to Cuba in 1933 and countless visitors staying at the Hotel Nacional in Havana, which opened Thursday with a suite name, where he stayed repeatedly times.
“My father adored Cuba, stayed in this hotel many times and know that this hotel treasures the memory of all the artists of the world that have been here,” said Pedro Vargas (son) reporters, who was accompanied by his brother Marcelo a grandson and great-grandchildren of the singer.
For his part, Marcelo Vargas said to be on the island “is actually returning to a second home (…) we all live our lives somewhere in Cuba. Then return to Cuba for us is very important.”

Among the other commemorative activities, is the launch of “Pedro Vargas. 100 years of music,” at the National Museum of Fine Arts, and a plaque will be unveiled at the famous Havana cabaret “Tropicana”, where the singer was presented several times.
Pedro Vargas was born on April 29, 1906 in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico.
