DEPORTES: AMAURY SANIT, NUNCA LAMENTÉ EL SALIR DE CUBA.
Torreón y Costa Rica son dos lugares de los que tiene buenos recuerdos el pitcher cubano Amauri Sanit. Tras salir de su natal Cuba en el 2004, ha jugado beisbol en por lo menos cinco naciones. En su recorrido se encuentra una parada en New York, pues él tuvo una breve estancia con la franquicia de Yankees.
Saint, de 35 años, comentó que Torreón fue el primer lugar que pisó después de salir de su natal Cuba, “me gustó mucho la ciudad. Pero la sonrisa mayor está en Costa Rica, ahí viví cinco años y todo fue bonito para mí. Fue donde conocí la realidad de cómo se podía vivir fuera de Cuba”. Salir de su país no fue una decisión sencilla y el beisbolista relató: “Salirme de Cuba es algo de lo que nunca me voy a arrepentir”, es una persona que nunca se lamenta de lo que hace, “si lo hice mal, sólo trato de no volverlo hacer”.
Su camino siguió hasta llegar a República Dominicana, donde logró captar la atención de Yankees y primero estuvo en las ligas menores, donde permaneció del 2008 al 2010; el último año no fue sencillo para Amauri debido a un dolor en el codo que no le permitía jugar de la mejor forma.
El llamado a Grandes Ligas llegó y Amauri debutó el 12 de mayo del 2011. Participó en cuatro duelos, lanzó siete entradas, permitió 10 carreras, ponchó a cuatro jugadores, su efectividad fue de 12.86. Las molestias en el codo continuaban y el cubano tuvo que ser operado. Yankees lo dejó libre.

Aunque reconoce que la LMB se le dificulta, por la altura en la que se localizan algunas de las plazas de las franquicias de la zona norte, a pesar de ello el cubano tiene una marca de un juego en contra por 11 a favor, su efectividad es de 2.0, es decir, está entre los mejores 10 lanzadores de la Liga. Indicó que le ha sido más fácil adaptarse a la Liga del Pacífico, pues ha jugado con Tomateros de Culiacán.
En Culiacán contó que su afición lo respeta mucho, el estadio siempre está lleno, la afición de Tigres también lo ha tratado bien, “con Yankees no entendía mucho de lo que hablaban los aficionados, no sé si me gritaron algo feo. Pero en Cuba, los fanáticos son muy irrespetuosos”.
En Cuba empezo su carrera pero como boxeador, donde mostró su talento al ganar torneos nacionales en su natal Cuba.
