The National Reconnaissance Office of the United States (NRO, for its acronym in English) designs, manufactures, launches and maintains all the spy satellites of this country. Cuba has no space program and its military infrastructure is obsolete, so it is of little interest for NRO, which in turn poses no threat to Cuba.
But it appears that the Directorate of Intelligence (DI) of Cuba, had given interest in NRO, the same way the Wasp Network was interested in the airfield bases in United States.

A Cuban spy still unidentified, but sentenced to 13 years in prison, has come to light this year with the awarding of the Bronze Medal of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO, for its acronym in English) to Sergeant Major Tessa M . Fontaine.
The case was prosecuted by the Research Division Counterintelligence and Cyber Counterintelligence NRO in Chantilly, Virginia. Fontaine held 148 hours of interrogations of spies and documented 16 hours of espionage activities of the Directorate of Intelligence (DI) of Cuba.
According to the brief information NRO, the work of Fontaine protected intelligence system worth $ 5,000 million.
However, the case of “new Cuban Spy” is surrounded by enigmas undeciphered.
Total Hermeticism
Chris Simmons, the American intelligence officer handling the case of Ana Belen Montes, Cuba’s superspy at the Pentagon, says that there is complete secrecy about the individual investigated and prosecuted by Fontaine.
It has not been established whether this is a spy Cuban national or an American citizen serving Cuba.
The detail information was slipped NRO in late May, following the activities of official recognition and promotion for Memorial Day (Memorial Day).

Pero todo parece indicar que la Dirección de Inteligencia (DI) de Cuba, tenía determinado interés en NRO, tal y como la Red Avispa se interesaba por las bases áreas en territorio estadounidense.

El caso fue procesado por la División de Investigaciones de Contrainteligencia y Ciber-Contrainteligencia de NRO en Chantilly, Virginia. Fontaine sostuvo 148 horas de interrogatorios a espías y documentó 16 horas de actividades de espionaje de la Dirección de Inteligencia (DI) de Cuba.
Según la escueta información de NRO, la labor de Fontaine protegió un sistema de inteligencia por valor de $5,000 millones de dólares.

No se ha establecido si se trata de un espía de nacionalidad cubana o de un ciudadano estadounidense al servicio de Cuba.
El detalle informativo fue deslizado por NRO a finales de mayo, a raíz de las actividades de reconocimiento y promoción a oficiales por el Día de Recordación (Memorial Day).
Fontaine había recibido ya en 2013 la distinción de la Fuerza Aérea como Suboficial del Año. Es oriunda de Holyoke, Massachussets, y actualmente presta servicio en la base aérea Lackland, de San Antonio, Texas. Ha cumplido misiones internacionales en Kuwait e Irak.
¿Interés de Cuba en NRO?
No existe hasta el momento ninguna referencia al espía cubano de Fontaine en documentos públicos o medios de comunicación.
Cuba prosigue en su campaña internacional por la liberación de tres de los cinco agentes cubanos de la Red Avispa que continúan encarcelados en Estados Unidos, aunque nunca han abogado por Ana Belén Montes, condenada a 25 años, y los esposos Kendall y Gwendolyn Myers, que por tres décadas pasaron información secreta del Departamento de Estado a La Habana. Kendall Myers fue sentenciado a cadena perpetua y su esposa Gwendolyn a cinco años y medio, en julio del 2010.
