ESTADOUNIDENSE “#CUBA NOW” PIDE A CUBANOS RECHACEN A POLITICOS DE LÍNEA DURA HACIA LA ISLA.
En un anuncio, llama a los cubanoamericanos a ‘proteger su derecho a visitar y apoyar a sus familias’ en la Isla.
La organización #CubaNow lanzó este lunes un anuncio televisivo en el que dice a los cubanos en el exilio que defiendan su derecho a viajar a la Isla y en las próximas elecciones de noviembre en Estados Unidos rechacen a los políticos de “línea dura”, informa EFE.
El anuncio, que también ha sido difundido por las redes sociales, llama a la comunidad cubanoestadounidense a “proteger su derecho a visitar y apoyar a sus familias en Cuba”.
El vídeo, dirigido por el cineasta cubanoestadounidense Joe Cardona y titulado ‘Proteja’, presenta a cuatro personas que narran en español la separación de sus familias debido al régimen castrista y animan a la audiencia a votar. “Por eso es que yo voto, porque me niego a permitir que otro político se vuelva a meter entre mis seres queridos y yo”, dicen los protagonistas.
Según afirmó #CubaNow en un comunicado, el anuncio pretende enviar un “fuerte mensaje a los políticos que siguen aferrándose a las políticas fracasadas de línea dura”, en contraposición a los cambios en la política estadounidense que desde 2009 permiten viajar todos los años a medio millón de cubanoestadounidense a la Isla.
El director de #CubaNow, Ric Herrero, criticó que cada ciclo electoral se vea a políticos “utilizando una postura de línea dura para tratar de asegurar el voto cubanoamericano”, y que esa postura apoye revertir los cambios aprobados en 2009, ya con Barack Obama en la Casa Blanca.
“La comunidad cubanoamericana ha cambiado significativamente en los últimos años, y este anuncio deja claro que estamos mirando hacia adelante, no hacia atrás, y esperamos que nuestros funcionarios electos hagan lo mismo mediante la protección del derecho a viajar”, declaró Herrero.
El anuncio se emite desde este lunes en la televisión de habla hispana de Miami.
En las elecciones del próximo 4 de noviembre, además de elegir a los gobernadores estatales, se renovará un tercio del Senado (33 de 100 escaños), donde el Partido Demócrata se juega mantener su mayoría, y la totalidad de los puestos en la Cámara de Representantes, en la que todos los pronósticos apuntan a una continuidad del dominio republicano.
En Florida, donde reside la gran mayoría de la comunidad cubanoestadounidense, se disputarán el puesto de gobernador el actual mandatario estatal, el republicano Rick Scott, y el demócrata Charlie Crist, partidario de políticas más flexibles hacia Cuba y contrario al embargo.
