La Guardia Costera de Estados Unidos ha detectado un marcado incremento en el número de balseros que intentan escapar de la Isla, informa R/TV Martí.
“Este año [fiscal] hemos llegado a la cifra de 3.378 cubanos interceptados en alta mar, casi el doble de lo que era 2013, de casi 2.200 cubanos”, dijo Marilyn Fajardo, vocera de la entidad.
La funcionaria aclaró que las cifras solo incluyen las intercepciones en alta mar por la Guardia Costera.
Fajardo ofreció las cifras del flujo migratorio de cubanos en el mes de septiembre, en los últimos años, en cuanto a interceptados: 2014 (368), 2013 (327), 2012 (217) 2011 (192) y 2010 (93).
Los datos por año fiscal, en los últimos cinco años, son como siguen: 2014 (3.722), 2013 (2.129), 2012 (1.870) 2011 (1.979) y 2010 (1.082).
Se estima que el incremento se debe a un deterioro de la situación en la Isla, aunque la vocera de la Guardia Costera dijo que también hay que tener en cuenta las condiciones favorables del clima en el Estrecho de la Florida.
