La revista española de política Esglobal ha incluido a cuatro cubanos en la lista de los 50 intelectuales iberoamericanos más influyentes en 2014 publicada este miércoles: e l historiador y ensayista Rafael Rojas, el economista Carmelo Mesa-Lago -profesor emérito de la Universidad de Pittsburg-, la bloguera y directora de 14ymedio, Yoani Sánchez, y el escritor Leonardo Padura.
El ranking, elaborado en colaboración con la Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO), tiene como objetivo ” poner de relieve el enorme talento y la variedad de puntos de vista que se generan en español y en portugués, como lenguas capaces de ofrecer alternativas al hegemónico inglés en la difusión del mundo actual”.
Para la selección de los intelectuales, la revista se ha basado en algunos criterios básicos, como elegir personajes vivos y activos, que desempeñen al menos parte de su tarea en español o portugués con influencia en el entorno iberoamericano o internacional.
Entre los otros intelectuales elegidos por Esglobal, se encuentran la escritora chilena Isabel Allende, el papa Francisco, el economista mexicano Jorge Castañeda, el sociólogo español Manuel Castells, el activista y periodista mexicano Javier Sicilia y el ganador del premio Nobel de Literatura Mario Vargas Llosa.

The Spanish journal of political Esglobal included four Cubans in the list of the 50 most influential Latin American intellectuals in 2014 published Wednesday: the historian and essayist Rafael Rojas, economist Carmelo Mesa-Lago, professor emeritus at the University of Pittsburgh-, blogger and director of 14ymedio, Yoani Sanchez, and writer Leonardo Padura.
The ranking, developed in collaboration with the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), aims to “highlight the tremendous talent and variety of views generated in Spanish and Portuguese as languages able to offer alternatives to the spread of English in today’s world “hegemonic.
