ACTRESS CAMERON DIAZ PLAYING MISS HANNIGAN IN NEW FILM “ANNIE”.

Cameron Diaz relished the role of mean Miss Hannigan in the movie remake of Annie, but whether the kids bought the act is another story, she explains why playing mean Miss Hannigan was so fun on Late Night With Seth Meyers.

The 42-year-old actress had a humourous gleam in her eye while describing the ‘meaty part’ during a visit to Late Night With Seth Meyers last week.

Cameron Diaz said she really enjoyed playing Miss Hannigan in the movie remake of Annie during a visit to Late Night With Seth Meyers on Wednesday – because she got to show her loud and boisterous side. When Meyers referred to Miss Hannigan as a dream role, Cameron quickly agreed.

‘It is a meaty part especially because you get to yell at kids, which is really fun,’ Cameron said with a laugh.
‘The first time, I just let it rip. It’s so much fun to see their faces. But then afterwards I do tell them I’m acting. That’s not really how I am. It’s actually funny because I totally ruined it for myself.

The 42-year-old actress said she got along great with the youngsters in the movie and that they didn’t really buy the ‘mean’ act. Cameron said that the first time she acted out a yelling scene with the kids, ‘I just let it rip. It’s so much fun to see their faces. But then afterwards I do tell them I’m acting’.

Maternal instinct: The star said she’d run and fetch the kids their coats between scenes because the weather was so chilly. ‘We were shooting outside. We were playing mid to beginning of fall. Actually it was mid-December, 30 degrees outside. But after they’d call ‘cut’, the girls would stand there shivering.’ Cameron said she’d run to get them coats and mufflers for their hands.

Cameron told Seth that she and her young co-star Quvenzhane Wallis had a running gag in regards to her use of swear words on set.

The actress laughed and said kids ‘just want to rake up the cash… all kids on sets do.’
Meanwhile, Cameron has been flashing mystery bands on her wedding finger, prompting rumours that she and boyfriend Benji Madden are engaged.

Wowing her audience: Cameron was a stunner in a clingy black dress with nude heels.

But on Tuesday, Cameron tried a different approach by keeping her left hand in the pocket of her dress as she promoted her new movie Annie on Univision’s Despierta America in Miami, Florida.

‘It’s a hard knock life’: “Annie” bows in US theatres on December 19.
