The popular radio actress Marta Jimenez Oropesa, known throughout the island by the name of Rita, died Wednesday in Havana at 95 years of age, the official news agency Prensa Latina.
The artist garnered waves of fans with his characterization of the neighboring Rita Pranganillo on the desktop Joys of Radio Progreso, program for over 40 years.
Jimenez Oropesa ventured into dramatic and humorous works. He was also declaimer, cheerleader, broadcaster and presenter of radio and television spaces.
The authorities had granted the National Radio Award (2000) and the National Humor Award (2007), among other honors.

La artista cosechó oleadas de seguidores con su caracterización de la vecina Rita Pranganillo en el programa Alegrías de sobremesa, de Radio Progreso, durante más de 40 años.
Jiménez Oropesa incursionó en obras dramáticas y humorísticas. También fue declamadora, animadora, locutora y presentadora de espacios en radio y televisión.

Las autoridades le habían concedido el Premio Nacional de Radio (2000) y el Premio Nacional de Humor (2007), entre otros reconocimientos.
