El Partido Popular Español ha pedido una coordinación entre los negociadores de la UE y EEUU que exploran un acercamiento con Cuba con el fin de ser eficaces en el objetivo de lograr avances en libertades y derechos humanos en la isla y para evitar que el régimen “engañe” a los demócratas.
Y en esta búsqueda de coordinación, España debe jugar un papel “determinante”, ha dicho en declaraciones a Europa Press el diputado ‘popular’ Teófilo de Luis, que ejerce de portavoz de los temas relacionados con Cuba en el Congreso de los Diputados.
De Luis ha condenado las últimas detenciones de medio centenar de disidentes en La Habana, que ve como un intento del régimen de “testar hasta dónde” EEUU está dispuesto a llegar en su negociación.
En opinión del diputado, el Gobierno cubano estaría intentando comprobar si el anuncio de deshielo hecho por el presidente Barack Obama “persigue solo hacer negocios con un mercado de 11 millones de personas” o si tiene también un “trasfondo político” de propiciar una mejora en los derechos y libertades del pueblo cubano.
CARTA AL EMBAJADOR CUBANO.
Tras los sucesos ocurridos por la organización de una performance de la artista Tania Bruguera en la Plaza de la Revolución de La Habana –donde la artista planeaba dejar un megáfono a todo aquel cubano que quisiera gritar sus exigencias a las autoridades del país, menciona De Luis en una carta que el diputado español enviara al Embajador cubano en España, al mismo tiempo que solicitaba una entrevista con dicha embajada, que habia sido rechazada anteriormente.
Con esa misiva De Luis quiere alertar de que estas detenciones “no son datos que favorezcan el desarrollo de las negociaciones entre Cuba y la UE y las que tienen que desarrollarse con EEUU”.
“La dictadura tiene que ser consciente de que los poderes ejecutivos, los negociadores, están condicionados por la voluntad del pueblo, que se manifiesta en los espacios legislativos”, precisa el diputado.
En EEUU, el deshielo propuesto por Obama encontrará previsiblemente la oposición de un Congreso dominado por el Partido Republicano, que puede intentar obstaculizar las medidas de acercamiento con Cuba que emprenda la Casa Blanca.
En el caso español, ha recordado el diputado, el Congreso de los Diputados advirtió en febrero pasado de la falta de avances en materia de Derechos Humanos y libertades en la isla y fijó su posición respecto de la negociación entre la UE y Cuba, avisando de que un eventual acuerdo entre ambas partes deberá incluir unas cláusulas democráticas que “garanticen el respeto a los Derechos Humanos y libertades individuales y colectivas, incluso la libertad de sindicación”.
“Entre todos debemos conseguir que los cubanos puedan desarrollar su vida en un ámbito de libertad. Es una oportunidad que no se puede perder”, ha subrayado De Luis, convencido de que si el régimen de la Habana no cumple las exigencias en materia de avances en libertades, entonces tanto la UE como EEUU deben “echar el freno” a las negociaciones para un acercamiento.
