Más allá de los nuevos requisitos de presentación y el aumento de la tarifa, una diferencia clave en el proceso será que el formulario de solicitud de viaje (I-131) será adjudicado en Estados Unidos por el USCIS. Si el caso resulta aprobado, será remitido entonces a la Sección de Intereses en La Habana para su posterior procesamiento.
“Gran parte del proceso de la entrevista seguirá siendo igual y permitirá acopiar los datos biométricos del solicitante”, explicó el funcionario.
Anteriormente, los solicitantes de CFRP no abonaban ninguna tarifa. USCIS financiaba el programa a través de los ingresos generados por otros beneficios migratorios.
De manera que la entrada en vigor de la nueva tarifa representa un recorte a los tradicionales beneficios que reciben los inmigrantes cubanos en Estados Unidos.
