ANDY GARCIA IS READY ABOUT HIS POSSIBLE NEW FILM ERNEST “HEMINGWAY AND FUENTES”.
Not content with what he has accomplished in Hollywood, at 58 Andy Garcia did not falter in film projects that touch personal fibers, which include a written by him script that features the writer Ernest Hemingway, whose original title is “Hemingway & Fuentes”.
Arturo Andres “Andy” García Menéndez, born in Havana and residing in the United States since the five years, said in an interview with Efe currently treasures on your desktop some major projects, one of which has as its central character to the famous writer US.

“I’m still dreaming and always there to fulfill those dreams and struggle to come true,” said Garcia, who grew up in Miami and sees in this project an opportunity to provide a vision that values the traditions of their ancestors.

No contento con lo que ha logrado en Hollywood, a sus 58 años Andy García no claudica en los proyectos cinematográficos que le tocan fibras personales, entre los que figuran un guión escrito por él que tiene como protagonista al escritor Ernest Hemingway y cuyo título inicial es “Hemingway & Fuentes”.
Andrés Arturo “Andy” García Menéndez, nacido en La Habana y que reside en los Estados Unidos desde los cinco año, señaló en entrevista con Efe que actualmente atesora en su escritorio algunos proyectos importantes, uno de los cuales tiene como personaje central al célebre escritor estadounidense.
“Es sobre la relación de Hemingway con el capitán del barco en Cuba, Gregorio Fuentes, y estoy luchando por esa película para lograrla”, afirmó el también productor y director cinematográfico.
Tal como recordó el actor, Fuentes fue un pescador español que capitaneó el barco “Pilar” en el que Hemingway realizó muchas de sus hazañas de pesca cuando partía desde las costas cubanas, en especial desde el pueblo de Cojimar.
Algunos ven a Fuentes como la inspiración para Santiago, el viejo pescador de 82 años protagonista de la afamada novela “El viejo y el mar” (1952).
“Yo todavía sigo soñando y siempre hay que cumplir con esos sueños y luchar para que se hagan realidad”, explicó García, que se crió en Miami y que ve en este proyecto la oportunidad de aportar una visión que valora las tradiciones de sus antepasados.
Lleva décadas de trayectoria, durante la cual fue nominado a un Oscar a Mejor Actor de Reparto por su papel en “El Padrino III” (1990), de Francis Ford Coppola, y su fórmula para mantenerse en cartel se basa en “la preparación y los estudios”, sea cual sea la especialidad, según afirmó.
Su experiencia personal le ha demostrado que no solamente es importante tener talento, sino que hay que seguir cultivándolo, “dedicarse y tratarlo con respeto”.
Si bien no oculta la alta competitividad que impera en el sector, estima que hoy en día hay muchas más oportunidades gracias a los canales de cable y a las nuevas propuestas en televisión.
“La lucha sigue siendo dura, pero hay más oportunidades que cuando mi generación empezó”, destacó, y que es a la vez un mensaje de aliento para las nuevas generaciones de intérpretes, en la que destacan cada vez más los nombres latinos.
Recientemente, García participó en la gala de premiación de la Coalición Nacional Hispana ante los Medios (NHMC, en inglés), en la que rindió un homenaje a su amiga, la fallecida actriz Elizabeth Peña.
La ceremonia reconoció el papel de los artistas que han ayudado a crear una imagen positiva de los latinos en los medios de comunicación, labor en la que García sin duda ha cumplido una tarea importante, aún cuando él mismo pretenda reducir sus logros en términos simples.
“He tenido la bendición de cumplir mis sueños, pero sigo soñando”, recalcó.
