Mirtha Ibarra was born in San José de las Lajas, Habana on February 28, 1946, is a screenwriter, playwright and Cuban actress of theater, film and television.
She studied at the National School of Arts of Cuba and graduated in Latin American Literature at the University of Havana.
She began her acting career in 1967 in various theater companies. He has served on juries of several international film festivals, including San Sebastian. From 2000-2001 he made a tour of Spain with his work Obsession habanera, which is the author and the acting.

Basilia Mirtha Ibarra Collado (San José de las Lajas, 28 de febrero de 1946 (69 años) ) 1 2 es una guionista, dramaturga y actriz cubana del teatro, el cine y la televisión.
Nació en la pequeña localidad de San José de las Lajas, 30 km al sureste de La Habana. Cursó estudios en la Escuela Nacional de Artes de Cuba y se graduó en Literatura Latinoamericana en la Universidad de La Habana.
Empezó su carrera como actriz en 1967 en distintas compañías teatrales. Ha sido miembro de jurados de varios festivales internacionales de cine, entre ellos el de San Sebastián. De 2000 a 2001 efectuó una gira por España con su obra Obsesión habanera, de la que es autora y en la que actúa.
Los personajes interpretados por Mirta Ibarra en el cine cubano registran la madurez profesional de esta actriz, quien en el año 1983 seduce al público con la incuestionable interpretación de la protagonista de Hasta cierto punto, película dirigida por Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, y por la que recibió el Premio Coral a la mejor actriz, en el Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano.
