The Deputy Minister of Communications, Department of State, David A. Duckenfield, met with independent journalists on Wednesday evening at the residence of the Head of Press Section US Interests in Havana, Lynn Roche. El Secretario Adjunto de Comunicaciones del Departamento de Estado, David A. Duckenfield, sostuvo un encuentro con periodistas independientes en la tarde del miércoles en la residencia de la Jefa de Prensa de la Sección de Intereses de EE UU en La Habana, Lynn Roche. Durante la reunión, a la que acudió una docena de representantes de varios medios de la prensa no oficial, el funcionario conoció de primera mano las experiencias y aspiraciones de esta parte de la sociedad civil cubana.
Duckenfield afirmó haberse llevado una grata impresión del sector de emprendedores cubanos, que están tratando de triunfar económicamente de manera independiente a pesar de las décadas de estatización que soporta el país. “En este proceso [de acercamiento entre los gobiernos cubano y norteamericano] lo que estamos intentando es ayudar al pueblo cubano a crear ese espacio de autonomía”, señaló.
