Kadjhali Kalimba Marichal Ibar (Mexico City, July 26, 1982) is an actor, singer and Mexican composer of Afro-Cuban descent.
Kalimba entered the world of music at the age of two years encouraged by his father, Cuban jazz musician Paul Marichal (Poly) and his mother Rosario Marichal Ibar. He and his sister M’balia Marichal take the passion for music from an early age and although starting to show their musical talents, was in theater and on television where they participated first.
Kalimba Marichal, has a great vocal quality, particularly for its high voice, and ease of combining with natural falsetto voice. At 2 he began his career in television on shows like Chiquilladas and chocolate chips (in which shared credits with her sister and father).
At the age of 6 years, Kalimba had his first foray into music in a Disney movie called Harlem, by dubbing the voice of the main character, and that was where the producers discovered his talent, led him to work on some musical works and overdubs.

Vaseline wave (1993-1996)

Kalimba Kadjhali Marichal Ibar (Ciudad de México, 26 de julio de 1982) es un actor, cantante y compositor mexicano de ascendencia Afro-Cubano.
Kalimba ingresa en el mundo de la música a la edad de 2 años animado por su padre, el jazzista cubano Pablo Marichal (Poly) y por su madre Rosario Ibar de Marichal. Él y su hermana M’balia Marichal adoptan la pasión por la música desde muy pequeños y aunque empiezan a mostrar sus dotes musicales, fue en el teatro y en la televisión donde participaron primero.
Kalimba Marichal, tiene una gran calidad vocal, por su particular voz aguda, y su facilidad de combinar los falsetes con la voz natural. A los 2 años comienza su carrera en la televisión en programas como Chiquilladas y Chispas de chocolate (en el cual compartía créditos con su hermana y su padre).
A la edad de 6 años, Kalimba tuvo su primera incursión a la música en una película de Disney llamada Harlem, haciendo el doblaje de la voz del personaje principal, y fue ahí donde los productores descubrieron su talento, llevándole a trabajar en algunas obras musicales y más doblajes.
En 2013 este fue llamado para La voz Perú como jurado junto a Jerry Rivera, Eva Ayllón y José Luis Rodríguez.
Onda Vaselina (1993-1996)

En 1993, al cumplir 11 años, Kalimba decide dedicarse a la música. Con este objetivo consigue entrar a formar parte de uno de los grupos infantiles más conocidos de México, la Onda Vaselina (hoy OV7) participando en el disco La Banda Rock. Se queda con la banda durante tres años, tras los cuales se dedica al doblaje, en películas como: El Rey León donde interpreta las canciones de Simba y James y el melocotón gigante ambas de Disney.
También participa en el doblaje de Oye Arnold!, donde pone la voz de Arnold. Participó también en la telenovela “Carrusel de las Américas”. En 1996 decide interrumpir su carrera y dedicarse a su otra gran pasión, el fútbol.
Carrera solista y Aerosoul (2004-2006)
Después de la desintegración de OV7, se da a conocer como solista con su disco Aerosoul publicado el 18 de mayo de 2004,1 compuesto por temas funk, soul, rock y R&B, el cual preparó junto a Áureo Baqueiro, Mario Domm, Edgar Oceransky y Sebastián Arocha. En este disco también fungio de coproductor, escritor y compositor. Tuvo como artistas invitadas a Natalia Lafourcade, Ha*Ash y María Barracuda a las que admira mucho.
“No me quiero enamorar” se lanza como primer éxito y suena bastante en México, Estados Unidos y Latinoamérica. El vídeo lo hace a principios de abril, mientras que el 17 del mismo mes actúa en el Zócalo capitalino, en el marco de un festival de radio.
En junio filma el video de su segundo sencillo, “Latín party (Tu corazón lo sabe)”, en los estudios argentinos Film Planet con la dirección de Picky Tallarico. Participan 40 extras y más de 30 personas en producción.
En julio, tras hacer promoción por Centroamérica, Puerto Rico, Estados Unidos (Chicago, Filadelfia, Nueva York, Washington, Houston, Dallas, Miami) y Argentina, empieza su gira oficial de conciertos, y es invitado para abrir algunas presentaciones de Sin Bandera.2 Vende 80.000 copias en EE. UU. y 100.000 en algunos países de Latinoamérica.
NegroKlaro (2006-2008)
En 2006 Kalimba parte a Italia un mes para reunirse con el cantante y compositor Diego Torres, para grabar su segundo disco. En la producción también participa su hermana M’Balia Marichal, Oscar Schwebel (ex compañero de OV7) y Jay de la Cueva.
En este álbum se incluye el dueto con Jesús Navarro Rosas de Reik «No puedo dejarte de amar» y el éxito «Duele» en cuyo vídeo aparece la actriz Camila Sodi por el que además recibe el primer premio por obtener 25.000 descargas online.
En México recibe un disco de oro por la venta de más de 50.000 unidades.
En 2007 debuta como actor de cine en la película Divina Confusión, en la que además de interpretar a Orfeo también cantará. Respecto a esto Kalimba comenta: Me siento muy contento de participar en la industria cinematográfica. Muy pronto comenzaré a filmar mis escenas, en las cuales voy a cantar temas que para mí son significativas. “Perfume de gardenias”, “Luces de Nueva York” y “La boa” son algunas de las canciones que interpreta y al respecto señaló: Cantar los éxitos de la Sonora Santanera es una experiencia muy grata, principalmente la melodía “Perfume de gardenias”, ya que es extraordinario entonar esta romántica melodía.
Presente
Kalimba formó parte de la primera temporada de La voz Perú del formato internacional The Voice, como coach de uno de los cuatro equipos participantes (equipo Kalimba). En el programa presentó su nuevo sencillo “Un nuevo mundo sin ti”.
En enero de 2014 tiene el mismo cargo en la versión peruana de La voz Kids (Perú), que es emitida también por el canal peruano Frecuencia Latina.
A finales de diciembre del 2014, logró posicionar su primer single derivado de la última producción discográfica Cena Para Desayunar, titulado Este Frío dentro de los primeros 5 lugares de la lista Top latin songs – Pop México de monitorLATINO, y se mantuvo ahí durante todo el mes de enero del año siguiente.
El 20 de marzo de 2015 Kalimba ingresó a Televisión azteca, TV Azteca, El trece para integrarse a sus filas y actualmente lo podemos ver en su papel de juez el el reality de baile “Baila Si Puedes”
