SPAIN CAN HELP IN CUBA TO “BUILD THE STATE”: LAMO DE ESPINOSA..
The Chairman of the Elcano Royal Institute, Emilio Lamo de Espinosa, said Thursday that Spain has the opportunity to help “build the state” in Cuba in the new period opens with the thaw in relations with Washington Havana, reports EFE.

He also urged companies to take into account the economic and demographic development of Asia, particularly China, whose relative weight is increasing markedly in the world.

ESPAÑA PUEDE AYUDAR A CUBA EN “CONSTRUIR EL ESTADO”: LAMO DE ESPINOSA.
El presidente del Real Instituto Elcano, Emilio Lamo de Espinosa, opinó este jueves que España tiene la oportunidad de ayudar a “construir el Estado” en Cuba en el nuevo periodo que se abre con el deshielo de las relaciones de La Habana con Washington, reporta EFE.
En una reunión con empresarios de la región de Galicia (noroeste), Lamo de Espinosa dijo que la decisión del Gobierno de Estados Unidos de restablecer relaciones con el de Cuba abre nuevas perspectivas económicas para el país, que necesita además reconstruir sus instituciones.
En ese sentido, opinó que España “puede hacer una buena tarea cooperando con Estados Unidos” para favorecer la democratización del país, ya que si Cuba continúa en esa vía no va a tener dificultades para experimentar un rápido desarrollo económico, consideró.
Destacó que años atrás sus opiniones denunciando que el embargo de Estados Unidos “era un error” fueron citadas a la vez por el diario estadounidense The Wall Street Journal y por el órgano oficial del Partido Comunista cubano, Granma.
Opinó que Estados Unidos ha dejado de manera pragmática el “empecinamiento” del pasado de mantener un embargo, lo que supone que un “proceso de apertura es imprescindible” para La Habana que, a su juicio, también dejaría atrás la influencia de Venezuela.
El director del Instituto Elcano consideró que España debe mirar oportunidades de negocio en distintos puntos del mundo, y que en las negociaciones para un acuerdo comercial transatlántico podría favorecer la inclusión de los países de Latinoamérica.
Asimismo, exhortó a las empresas a tener en cuenta el desarrollo económico y demográfico de Asia, particularmente de China, cuyo peso relativo está aumentando de manera notoria en el mundo.
