El lanzador cubano de los Rojos de Cincinnati Raisel Iglesias (Isla de la Juventud, 1990) ha recibido buenas noticias de la gerencia. No tendrá que empacar su ropa y volver a la Triple-A Louisville, porque se queda en el bullpen, señala el periodista de MLB.com Mark Sheldon.
El 12 de mayo, el derecho logró su primer triunfo en las Mayores cuando venció 5×1 a los Bravos de Atlanta. En esa ocasión lanzó 8 entradas y permitió solamente 2 imparables y ponchó a 5 bateadores.
“Yo diría que (en unos) tres días mínimo, podríamos verlo de nuevo el próximo domingo en Kansas City (…) se crean oportunidades porque necesitamos fortalecer nuestro cuerpo de relevistas. Estamos tratando de redondear nuestro bullpen con muchachos jóvenes y esto también nos sirve para múltiples propósitos”, manifestó el mánager Bryan Price.
Price no ha descartado la posibilidad de permitir que Iglesias inicie un juego.
Según Price, la contribución de Iglesias es importante ya que ayudaría a mejorar el equipo, desde el bullpen, “hasta que decidamos brindarle otra oportunidad de abrir juegos. Creo que es algo muy positivo”.
