El escritor cubano Pedro Juan Gutiérrez, autor de Trilogía de La Habana, afirma en una entrevista con el periódico chileno La Tercera que EEUU dispone de “muchos recursos hipnóticos” con los que se pretende seducir a las personas. En opinión del autor se trata de “mierda pura, que engaña a las masas que no tienen un nivel amplio de información”. (El Pueblo Cubano no tiene en su gran mayoria acceso al Internet como el mundo entero. AV).
El autor incluye entre estos recursos que considera perniciosos “películas, música, ropita extravagante, famosos millonarios, etc., los mecanismos que conocemos para encandilar y vender una imagen de triunfo y éxito”.
Asimismo, el autor señala que en la Isla “predomina una especie de optimismo demasiado ingenuo” ante la nueva situación creada por el acercamiento entre La Habana y Washington.
“La gente quiere mejorar su economía, pero es un proceso lento y creo que cuidadoso por ambas partes”, apunta el autor.
“Supongo que, como sucede siempre, el intercambio comercial mejorará primero a la macroeconomía y poco a poco se irá reflejando en la vida de algunas personas”, agrega.
El escritor señala por otro lado que a la gente “cada vez le interesa menos la política” y precisa que su generación “sí vivió traumatizada por la política, en el espíritu de aquella izquierda latinoamericana radical”, pero que “ese tipo de cosas ya se van olvidando porque el espíritu de la época es el mercantil, en todo el mundo”.
Para Gutiérrez la gente de su generación “tenían el caos como espíritu de la época” en cambio “ahora es el dinero”.
Respecto a la Cuba 2actual”, dice el autor que “es heredera de 50 y pico de años de socialismo tropical, menos mal” porque “pudo ser peor”. Agrega que en Cuba “nunca llegamos a los modelos de Stalin o Mao, por ejemplo, así que en comparación ha sido light”.
Sobre los jóvenes cubanos, el escritor dice que representan el “individualismo puro y duro” y en cuanto a su optimismo, afirma que lo es “dos o tres días a la semana, el resto, pesimista”.
