El jardinero Yadiel Hernández González ha aprovechado el viaje de la selección cubana de béisbol a Carolina del Norte par fugarse, informa el diario miamense El Nuevo Herald.
El conjunto cubano, dirigido por Roger Machado, saldrá este miércoles al terreno del National Training Complex, en Carolina del Norte, para un choque con un equipo estadounidense, preparatorio para los Juegos Panamericanos de Toronto, que se realizarán a mediados de julio.
Según El Nuevo Herald, una “fuente de entero crédito” aseguró haber presenciado el momento en que Hernández González se montaba en un auto para escapar.
“Existe mucha tensión en el equipo”, declaró la fuente. “Al conocerse de su fuga, reunieron al resto de los jugadores en el hotel donde se están hospedando y realizaron una especie de encuentro de reafirmación”.
La publicación dijo que se rumoraba la fuga de al menos dos o tres peloteros, pero hasta el momento solo existía información sobre el caso de Hernández González.

Al poseer seis contiendas de experiencia en la Isla y 29 años de edad, Hernández no está sujeto a las restricciones para firmas internacionales y puede convertirse en agente libre con todos los beneficios para un cubano.
El tope Cuba-Estados Unidos se realiza por cuarta ocasión desde que se reanudaron estos amistosos en el verano de 2012, después de una pausa de 16 años. Desde entonces el duelo marcha 8-7 a favor de los cubanos.
