Hillary Clinton’s campaign said Wednesday that the presidential candidate will make in two days a petition to revoke the US embargo on Cuba.
In the speech on Friday in Florida, Clinton will echo President Barack Obama, who normalized relations with Cuba in December, criticized his Republican opponents to defend what his campaign calls “the failed policies of the past”.
Clinton had advocated the repeal of the embargo, writing in his book “Hard Choices” (“Tough Choices”) that she would recommend to the president to take another look at the trade ban.
Congressional action is required to formally remove the sanctions.
The presidential candidate of the Republican Party of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and former governor of Florida Jeb Bush, have criticized the Obama administration for promoting the normalization of relations with Cuba. The issue is particularly important to voters of Cuban origin living in Florida.

La campaña de Hillary Clinton informó el miércoles que la aspirante presidencial hará en dos días una petición para revocar el embargo estadounidense a Cuba.
En el discurso del viernes en Florida, Clinton hará eco al presidente Barack Obama, quien normalizó las relaciones con la isla en diciembre, y criticará a sus oponentes republicanos por defender lo que su campaña llama “las políticas fallidas del pasado”.
Clinton ya había defendido la revocación del embargo, al escribir en su libro “Hard Choices” (“Decisiones difíciles”) que ella le recomendaría al presidente echar otro vistazo a la prohibición comercial.
Se requiere acción del Congreso para eliminar formalmente las sanciones.
