Some 100,000 people, according to EFE, took to the streets of Havana for the pope Francisco after the welcoming ceremony at the Jose Marti airport, marked by political messages.

In addition to chat, Fidel Castro and Francisco exchanged several gifts. The pontiff gave him two books of Alessandro Pronzato expert catechesis and the Bible and theological popularizer, one entitled annoying Gospels and the other on the relationship between humor and religion.

Unas 100.000 personas, según la agencia EFE, salieron a las calles de La Habana para recibir al papa Francisco tras la ceremonia de recibimiento en el aeropuerto José Martí, marcada por los mensajes de carácter político.
Despues de la Misa ofrecida en la Plaza de la Revolución el Papa se dirigió a hacer una visita al retirado ex-mandatario Fidel Castro en Punto Cero, donde reside este, según anunció el portavoz del Vaticano, Federico Lombardi, informa EFE. La entrevista duró unos cuarenta minutos y se produjo en un ambiente “muy familiar e informal”, según Lombardi.
El pontífice argentino y Castro hablaron de “temas de la problemática mundial de hoy”, en particular sobre el medio ambiente, explicó Lombardi.
Fidel Castro aprovechó la ocasión para preguntar a Francisco acerca de “grandes cuestiones sobre el mundo de hoy” que preocupan e interesan al exgobernante cubano, dijo el portavoz vaticano.
Además de charlar, Francisco y Fidel Castro intercambiaron varios regalos. El pontífice le obsequió con dos libros de Alessandro Pronzato, experto en catequesis y en la Biblia y divulgador teológico, uno de ellos titulado Evangelios molestos y otro sobre la relación entre humor y religión.
También le regaló ejemplares de la exhortación apostólica Evangelii Gaudium y su famosa encíclica sobre temas medioambientales Laudato si.
El dictador cubano por su parte obsequió al papa con el libro Fidel y la religión, la entrevista que el teólogo brasileño Frei Betto le hizo a Castro en 1985, con la dedicatoria: “Para el papa Francisco en ocasión de su fraternal visita a Cuba. Con admiración y respeto del pueblo cubano”.
