El estatal Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematográficos (ICAIC) decidió dejar desierta la candidatura cubana a los premios Oscar, informa la prensa oficial de la Isla.
La Comisión de Selección del ICAIC, integrada por el realizador Jorge Luis Sánchez; la actriz Eslinda Núñez; la vicepresidenta de Relaciones Internacionales de la institución, Susana Molina; el productor Frank Cabrera y la directora Patricia Ramos, tomó la decisión “por mayoría de votos”, informó el sitio en internet CubaSí, sin más explicaciones.
Según el reporte, la película Vestido de novia, ópera prima de Marilyn Solaya, fue seleccionada para representar a la Isla en los Goya; mientras el animado Meñique, de Ernesto Padrón, fue elegida para los premios Ariel.
Sobre Vestido de novia, la comisión argumentó “que aborda con sensibilidad un tema hasta hoy muy poco tratado en la cinematografía nacional”.
“Es una película que se inscribe en un período complejo de la realidad cubana y fue filmada con mucha credibilidad y sinceridad. Sus valores de interpretación, uno de los mayores logros de la obra, avalan de igual modo su participación en el certamen”, opinaron los integrantes de la comisión, según CubaSí

En cuanto a Meñique, la publicación indicó que fue seleccionado “por tratarse de un filme que tiene la calidad necesaria para competir” en los premios Ariel. “Cuenta con una buena factura técnica y constituye una interesante adaptación cinematográfica sobre un cuento versionado por José Martí”, según los responsables de la selección.

El Gobierno rompió la semana pasada el contrato con el proyecto escénico El Ingenio, de Cremata, por considerar que el cineasta y director teatral realizó “ataques desmedidos” a las instituciones culturales tras la cancelación de su versión de El rey se muere, de Eugène Inoesco, este verano.
Para fundamentar la decisión, el Ministerio de Cultura, el Consejo Nacional de las Artes Escénicas y el propio Centro de Teatro de la Habana, argumentaron que las críticas de Cremata generaron “falta de confianza en el artista, todo lo cual descalifica sus propuestas como intereses institucionales”.
