A dozen Cuban artists managed nominations in the 16th edition of the Grammy Awards Latin American music in the United States, announced on Wednesday the Latin Recording Academy.
These include Ivan “Melon” Lewis in the category of new artist and Silvio Rodriguez in the music video short version with sun-colored eyes Calle 13.
For its part, the producer Jalil War gets two nominations: Best Classical Album (Works For String Orchestra) and best contemporary classical composition (The portrait of pigeon).
In the category of best traditional tropical album Alain Perez earned nominations for the soul of the Son – Tributo A Matamoros; Sonlokos by Wicked son, and José Alberto “El Canario” & Septet Santiaguero Tribute to compadres do not want to cry.
Also in the category of Best Tropical Song figure with Cuba Alex Cuba she has already begun. The artist is also nominated for best singer-songwriter album for his work Healer.
The musician Paquito D’Rivera is also on this issue among the nominees in the category of best Latin jazz album with Jazz Meets The Classics.
Finally, in the category of Best Salsa Album figure Rey Ruiz stations.

La gala de entrega se celebrará el jueves 19 de noviembre en Las Vegas.
Una decena de artistas cubanos lograron nominaciones en la edición 16 de los premios Grammy de la música iberoamericana en Estados Unidos, que dio a conocer este miércoles la Academia Latina de la Grabación.
Entre ellos están Iván “Melón” Lewis en la categoría de nuevo artista y Silvio Rodríguez en la de vídeo musical en versión corta por Ojos color sol junto con Calle 13.
Por su lado, el productor Yalil Guerra consigue dos nominaciones: mejor álbum de música clásica (Works For String Orchestra) y mejor composición clásica contemporánea (El retrato de la paloma).
En la categoría de mejor álbum tropical tradicional consiguen nominaciones Alain Pérez por El Alma Del Son – Tributo A Matamoros; Sonlokos por Locos por el son, y José Alberto “El Canario” & Septeto Santiaguero por Tributo a los compadres no quiero llanto.
Asimismo, en el apartado de mejor canción tropical figura el cubano Alex Cuba con Ya comenzó. El artista también está nominado en mejor álbum cantautor por su trabajo Healer.
El músico Paquito D’Rivera también figura en esta edición entre los nominados, en la categoría de mejor álbum de jazz latino con Jazz Meets The Classics.
Finalmente, en la categoría de mejor álbum de salsa figura Rey Ruiz con Estaciones.
