El Papa reza a la patrona de Cuba para pedirle que reúna a su pueblo.
“Haz de la nación cubana un hogar de hermanos y hermanas para que este pueblo abra de par en par su mente, su corazón y su vida a Cristo”, dice el pontífice en Santiago de Cuba.
El papa Francisco llegó este pasado lunes a Santiago, tercera y última etapa de su viaje a Cuba, donde acudió al Santuario de la Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre para rezar a la patrona del país y pedirle, como “madre de la reconciliación”, que reúna a su pueblo “disperso en el mundo”.
Apenas tres horas después de aterrizar en Santiago procedente de Holguín, el pontífice visitó la basílica menor del Santuario para oró ante la Caridad, un momento de recogimiento donde no participaron fieles y en el que el Papa estuvo acompañado por doce obispos cubanos, el cardenal Jaime Ortega y el secretario de Estado del Vaticano, Pietro Parolin.
Primero de pie y luego sentado, Jorge Bergoglio rezó ante la Virgen durante unos quince minutos y pronunció en voz alta dos oraciones, una de ellas la de San Juan Pablo II al coronar la imagen de la Virgen de la Caridad.

The Pope prays to the patron saint of Cuba to ask him to meet his people.
“Make the Cuban nation a home of brothers and sisters so that this people will open wide its mind, its heart and its life to Christ,” said the pontiff in Santiago de Cuba.
Pope Francisco arrived on Monday to Santiago, third and last leg of his trip to Cuba, where he went to the Shrine of Our Lady of Charity to pray to the patron saint of the country and ask, as “mother of reconciliation” bringing together its people “dispersed in the world.”
Just three hours after landing in Santiago from Holguin, the pontiff visited the minor basilica of Sanctuary prayed to Charity, a moment of recollection which did not participate faithful and the Pope was accompanied by twelve Cuban bishops, Cardinal Jaime Ortega and the Vatican secretary of state, Pietro Parolin.
First standing and then sitting, Jorge Bergoglio prayed to the Virgin for about fifteen minutes and said aloud two sentences, one of San Juan Paul II crowned the image of Our Lady of Charity.
“Make the Cuban home of brothers and sisters so that this people nation wide open your mind, your heart and life to Christ,” the pope read.
