Dejó a los españoles con el corazón roto y ahora anda tras una nueva conquista. La actriz cubana Ana de Armas se presenta ante el público estadounidense este viernes con el filme Knock Knock, en el que trabaja con el conocido Keanu Reeves y la joven Lorenza Izzo.
“Estoy nerviosa. A ver qué tal la reacción del público, a ver si les gusto”, confesó sincera De Armas, quien luego de su éxito en España, con series como El internado, decidió probar suerte en California, Estados Unidos.
En “Knock Knock”, (“Lado Oscuro del Deseo”), de Eli Roth, la actriz interpreta el papel de una de las villanas, dos jóvenes que en medio de una noche lluviosa llaman a la puerta de un padre de familia que ha quedado solo en casa por el fin de semana. A partir de ese encuentro fortuito se desencadenará un peligroso juego de seducción.

“Cuando yo vivía en Cuba y era chiquita me sentaba a verlo los domingos al mediodía. Es tradición almorzar en el sofá con el plato en las rodillas y ver películas, así que crecí viendo a Keanu en Matrix, Velocidad… Trabajar con él fue como un shock. Y encima aquí le hago de todo”, dijo la intérprete.
Para la actriz cubana, las escenas de sexo no son las más difíciles. Prefiere hacerlas rápido para pasar a las que realmente representan un reto de interpretación para ella.
El inglés ha sido otro de los desafíos de trabajar en la industria hollywoodense; convencer de los productores de que el contraste entre su acento y su imagen rompen el molde de la típica latina.
“No lo veo como un impedimento. Es como aprender un superpoder que ya puedo usar. Es algo nuevo para ellos y para mí”, indicó De Armas, quien no descarta regresar a trabajar en España o Cuba en el futuro, pero ahora tiene claro que su lugar está en Estados Unidos.
El próximo año se estrenarán cuatro películas que tiene en cartera: Hands of Stone (Manos de piedra), con Robert De Niro; y Arms and the Dudes (Las armas y los socios), de Todd Phillips, entre ellas. Para entonces, podrá medir con mayor certeza la aceptación del público angloparlante.
