“CHANGE IN CUBA IS IRREVERSIBLE”: SPANISH FOREIGN MINISTER
According to the Spanish Foreign Minister the changee in Cuba is irreversible. However, it has made it clear that the holding of free elections in Cuba will be “the last phase of the process” of change in which, in his view, is immersed the island.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Manuel García-Margallo, believes that “change in Cuba”, following the restoration of relations with the United States, is “irreversible”.
He warned that “democracy can not be exported as Nescafe soluble”, it is the culmination of a process. During a speech at the forum “Latin America unites” held at the Casa de America in Madrid, Foreign Minister spoke of the normalization of relations between Cuba and the United States and the European Union.
“The problem will come when the issue of human rights is addressed,” he said and stressed that the “smart” would define common approaches to addressing this issue with the island.

Según Canciller español el cambio en Cuba es irreversible. Eso sí, ha dejado claro que la celebración de elecciones libres en Cuba será “la última fase del proceso” de cambio en el que, a su juicio, está inmersa la isla.
El ministro de Asuntos Exteriores y de Cooperación, José Manuel García-Margallo, considera que ” el cambio en Cuba”, a raíz del restablecimiento de las relaciones con Estados Unidos, es “irreversible”.
Advirtió que “la democracia no se exporta como el Nescafé soluble”, sino que es la culminación de un proceso. Durante una intervención en el foro “Iberoamérica nos une”, celebrado en la Casa de América de Madrid, el canciller habló de la normalización de las relaciones de Cuba con Estados Unidos y con la Unión Europea.
“El problema vendrá cuando se aborde el tema de los Derechos Humanos” dijo e insistió en que lo “inteligente” sería establecer criterios comunes a la hora de abordar este asunto con la isla.
La celebración de elecciones libres en Cuba será “la última fase del proceso” de cambio, anticipó García-Margallo y puso de ejemplo la transición española, que demostró que “se acertó con los tiempos” pues al celebrar las elecciones se restablecieron las libertades y pudieron surgir nuevos partidos y legalizar otros.
“En Cuba hay que desatascar la economía y que la sociedad aprenda a vivir en libertad. Y luego ya ir a unas elecciones”, dijo el Ministro. “Me da la impresión de que todos queremos acertar con Cuba, que salga bien. Y cuando todos queremos que salga bien, al final sale bien”.
