He began public speaking when he was five years old. By the time he graduated High School, he amassed a score of awards and titles including Most Outstanding Senior Award, Six time Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical Winner, and the Key to the City of Orlando. He holds three national titles in oratory: Elks of the World, NAACP and Modern Woodsman of America. Out of 8,500 students nationwide he won the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts Award.
In 1997, he received the Presidential Scholar Award from President Bill Clinton.
