Miguel Alfonso Pozo, más conocido como Clavelito (Ranchuelo, Cuba, 29 de septiembre de 1908 – 21 de julio de 1975), fue un trovador y poeta cubano.

BIOGRAFIA

Pozo nació en el término de Ranchuelo, provincia de Las Villas el 29 de septiembre de 1908. Fue un trovador, poeta y cantor cubano, conocido popularmente como Clavelito, que destaca en la primera mitad del siglo XX al dedicarse principalmente al repentismo, las décimas campesinas, logrando celebridad por el programa “El buzón de Clavelito”, transmitido por Unión Radio Televisión.        ​

Durante la etapa juvenil se desempeña como vendedor callejero, pregonando los productos que vende. No tiene antecedentes en el arte. Los inicios en el arte es mediante el dúo Moriano y Clavelito, radiado por la emisora CMHI de Santa Clara. Años más tarde Amado Trinidad Velazco, director de la emisora RHC Cadena Azul, le da la oportunidad de redactar las famosas décimas de Pepe Cortes, el bandolero romántico, escritas por el libretista cubano Aramis Del Real.            ​

La estancia en Cadena Azul es breve, el 27 de abril de 1939 es contratado por el entonces director del Circuito CMQ en La Habana, Miguel Gabriel y a dúo con La Calandria pasa al gran circuito radial, donde actúa por espacio de trece años.

Entre los programas realizados en esa etapa se citan, Controversias Colgate, Rincón Criollo, Controversias Toody, Por los campos de Cuba, El Horóscopo de Clavelito. Bastos temas en controversias junto Nena Cruz “La Calandria” y Coralia Fernández. Sus guitarristas acompañantes eran Eduardo Saborit, Miguel Ojeda, Panchito González, Manolito Menéndez.

Al fundarse Unión Radio Televisión por Gaspar Pumarejo en mayo de 1951, pasa a laborar en esa onda radial, donde inicia el programa El Buzón de Clavelito.

Autor de grandes temas nativos. La Guayabera. El Gurapo y la Melcocha. El Caballo y la Montura. El Rinconcito. Vengo de monte adentro. Las Rubias y las Trigueña. Clandria tú eres Guajira. Ese Número no existe. Liborio. Quiero ver mi Guajira en el Batey. La Madre Muerta. Guano Seco. El Hombre y La Mujer.

Tuvo cuatro hijos, Ana Josefa Alfonso, Rosa Alfonso Álvarez, Néstor Miguel Alfonso Gómez, Narciso Ramón Alfonso Gómez.

Clavelito falleció un 21 de julio de 1975, cuando no había cumplido los 66 años.

En el libro del Dr. Castillo Mujica este expresa de Clavelito…”todos los cubanos debemos recordarlo siempre, porque en su poesía, supo pintar con matices relucientes, la belleza de nuestro suelo y nuestras costumbres, y a la vez, llevar un mensaje de esperanza para nuestro afligido pueblo”.

Al menos Clavelito trató de hacer el bien a cada ser humano que le tuvo fe, por eso fue endiosado y querido, un personaje cubano que recordaremos siempre con cariño y respeto.

Miguel Alfonso Pozo “Clavelito” was born in Ranchuelo, Las Villas Province on 29 September 1908.

His maternal grandfather inherited his stage name “Clavelito” and whose name was Joseph Clavelo. Poor family, had little time to prepare for the very young school because he went to work to help their parents. His poetic talent is born, so he became one of the best repentistas (country music improvisers) throughout Cuba.

His first steps begin on the integration of Duet “Moriano Clavelito” which was heard by the CMHI Santa Clara. Later the late Amado Trinidad, gave him the opportunity to write tenths of “Pepe Cortes,” the romantic outlaw who wrote Real Aramis for Cadena Azul.

The late Miguel Gabriel, sent for him at any price. Accompanied by the “Calandria”, moved to the CMQ Monte and Prado, which served for thirteen years. Day after day, without getting sick “Clavelito” I make this journey of years, until Gaspar Pumarejo, acquired Union Radio wave which moved to the troubadour with a salary of six hundred dollars a month.

In Union Radio, beginning the “Dispute of the ball” between Havana and Almendares, with Coralia Fernández. Some time later, the Union Radio Station, was sold by Angel Gaspar Pumarejo Cambo and this gave him the authority to “Clavelito” apart from acting to produce the type of program that he wanted more. Of such a thing, did the program “The Clavelito glass of water,” the program but heard of the Cuban radio of all time.
That program was where you could hear his famous phrase:

“Concentrate your mind on me
and you’ll see from this very moment
my thinking and strength will do you good”…

In his program “Here’s Clavelito” he began with a lute and playing a tune key peasant in himself the tenth Clavelito famous singing “Put your thinking of me … “. And after reading the letters he wrote to his listeners that his improvisations consejaba by asking them to put before a glass of water on the radio receiver, and to concentrate on it so they could benefit from its healing powers. To his surprise began attributing miracles, because the same cured a derelict, harmonized a home with problems, given the lottery numbers, looking for a boyfriend to the ugliest, consoling any grieving, etc..

He came to receive more than 50,000 letters a week. His popularity was unbearable for competition, which was affected by his large audience, so they joined to destroy it, hence prepared a report that failed to comply with the code of ethics and radio program was canceled on August 5, 1952 . But his listeners not resisted and pushed both their governments had to put it back on the radio but suspending the predictions, especially healing with a glass of water.

Clavelito was elected to the House of Representatives for the Authentic Party of Prio Socarras in the early 50’s.

Clavelito died a July 21, 1975, when he was only 66 years old.

In the book of Dr. Castillo Mujica expressed Clavelito this … “all Cubans must always remember him, because in his poetry, he learned to paint with bright hues, the beauty of our land and our customs, yet, take a message of hope for our troubled people. “

Clavelito at least tried to do good to every human being that you had faith, so he was deified and beloved, a Cuban character will always remember with affection and respect.
