ITALIAN DIPLOMAT D. VECCHIONI: RAÚL CASTRO “DELICATE AND SKILLFUL”, BARACK OBAMA “NAIVE AND WEAK”.
.
Former ambassador of Italy in Cuba D. Vecchioni describes as “cynical and unscrupulous” Raul Castro diplomacy.
President of Cuba, Raul Castro a “finest and skillful statesman” than his brother Fidel, has managed to get “all free” from US, according to one of his biographers, the writer and Italian diplomat Domenico Vecchioni.
The MartíNews portal Miami, Radio and TV Marti, published Wednesday interview made by one of its journalists to Vecchioni on the occasion of the upcoming visit to Cuba of US President Barack Obama, a journey that, according to the biographer It makes evident skills as a negotiator and leader of the Cuban American “surrender”.
“Raul has made a cynical and unscrupulous diplomacy, get everything you ever dreamed Fidel obtain” Vecchioni, who was Italian ambassador to Cuba between 2005 and 2009 and in 2011 he published his biography of the current Cuban president he said.
In his view, this man relegated “for half a century to live among racks, overshadowed by the intense shadow” of Fidel Castro, he has been fortunate to have as interlocutor Obama, a “weak, naive, eager president to leave some trace of his presidency, at least in a corner of the Caribbean. ”
The announced visit of Barack Obama to Cuba shows American “surrender” “against a Raul Castro who has obtained all free”, “without conceding anything yet in terms of democracy and human rights,” said the biographer.

Vecchioni said that “nothing in front” of Cuba has changed with the normalization of relations with the US, because “Cuba was and is a dictatorship, the Castro regime was and is a regime that denies fundamental freedoms, the political system Cuban was and is totalitarian. ”
Vecchioni, who has published in publishing and Greco Greco Editori Milan, among other books, biographies Raul Castro and the Cambodian dictator Pol Pot (2013), is a professor of Italian universities of Calabria and Mantua.
In his view, Raul Castro will fulfill his promise to step down in 2018, it will have 87 years, but by then “will have enough time to properly regulate their succession time, maybe thinking perpetuate one of his sons, Alexander and Mariela “.
Asked about a probable empathy between Barack Obama and Raul Castro, Vecchioni believes that more than anything has been “a marriage of reason” because “each had enough political and personal reasons” to end the enmity between Cuba and the United States .
The problem is that the “marriage contract” has just been favorable to Raul Castro, I stress.
