The Christ of Havana is a colossal sculpture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a work by Cuban sculptor Jilma Madera. The statue was made of Carrara marble, the same used in the monuments Colón Cemetery in Havana. The image is about 20 meters high and rests on a base of three meters in which its creator buried diverse objects of the time. Its approximate weight is about 320 tons. The statue consists of 67 pieces that were brought from Italy, since it was sculpted in Rome and there blessed by Pope Pius XII.
The image, located in the village of White House, in the municipality of Regla, was located on the hill of La Cabaña on December 24, Christmas Eve, 1958. Only a fortnight after his inauguration on January 8, 1959 Fidel Castro entered Havana after overthrow the government of Fulgencio Batista by the Cuban Revolution.

The sculpture is 51 meters above sea level, allowing habaneros see the sculpture from many parts of the city; the figure of Christ is standing with one hand raised in blessing and the other in the chest facing the city, this work is left empty eyes that give the impression of looking at everyone everywhere it was observed . El Cristo de la Habana es una colosal escultura del sagrado corazón de Jesús, una obra de la escultora cubana Jilma Madera. La estatua estaba hecha de mármol de Carrara, el mismo utilizado en los monumentos del cementerio de Colón en la Habana. La imagen es de unos 20 metros de altura y descansa sobre una base de tres metros en la que su creador enterrados diversos objetos de la época. Su peso aproximado es de unas 320 toneladas. La estatua consta de 67 piezas que fueron traídas de Italia, ya que fue esculpido en Roma y allí bendecido por el Papa Pius XII.
La imagen, situada en la localidad de casa blanca, en el municipio de Regla, fue situada en la colina de La Cabaña el 24 de diciembre Nochebuena, 1958. Sólo quince días después de su inauguración en 08 de enero de 1959 Fidel Castro entró en la Habana después de derrocar el gobierno de Fulgencio Batista por la revolución cubana.

La escultura es de 51 metros sobre el nivel del mar, permitiendo habaneros ver la escultura de muchas partes de la ciudad; la figura de Cristo está de pie con una mano levantada en bendición y la otra en el pecho frente a la ciudad, este trabajo quedo ojos vacíos que dan la impresión de ver a todos en todas partes que se observó. Desde el sitio de Christ de la Habana se aprecia una vista de la entera ciudad de la Habana.
