CUBAN PITCHER JOSÉ FERNÁNDEZ CHOSEN BEST PLAYER IN MAJOR LEAGUES.
The stellar opener of the Marlins in Miami, the Cuban José Fernández, confirmed his great form to be recognized with the award for player of the week in the National League for the period of competition that ended Sunday.
Fernandez made two stellar outings on the mound that got 11 strikeouts each with two triumphs for the Marlins.
The Cuban right Launcher left 2-0 mark with 0.64 of effectiveness in two openings for Miami last week, to dominate the rival batedores with straight lines and speed changes.
Fernandez threw seven entries in white against the Milwaukee Brewers on May 9, giving four hits and giving four bases on balls.
Later, he allowed just a run and gave four tickets in seven innings at the close of the series for the Marlins against the Washington nationals in matchup of teams fighting for the lead in the East Division of the old circuit.
Player of the week award is the fourth that Fernandez receives since he is in the major leagues.

El abridor estelar de los Marlins de Miami, el cubano Jose Fernández, confirmó su gran momento de forma al ser reconocido con el premio de Jugador de la Semana en la Liga Nacional para el periodo de competición que concluyó este domingo.
Fernández hizo dos salidas estelares al montículo en las que consiguió 11 ponches cada una con sendos triunfos para los Marlins.
El lanzador derecho cubano dejó marca de 2-0 con 0.64 de efectividad en dos aperturas por Miami la semana pasada, al dominar a los batedores rivales con rectas y cambios de velocidad.
Fernández lanzó siete entradas en blanco contra los Cerveceros de Milwaukee el 9 de mayo, concediendo cuatro imparables y otorgando cuatro bases por bolas.
Después, permitió apenas una carrera y otorgó cuatro boletos en siete entradas en el cierre de la serie de los Marlins contra los Nacionales de Washington en duelo de equipos que luchan por el liderato de la División Este del Viejo Circuito.
El premio de Jugador de la Semana es el cuarto que recibe Fernández desde que está en las Grandes Ligas.
