Cuba recibió dos millones 147.600 visitantes al cierre del primer semestre, para un crecimiento del 11,7% con respecto a similar periodo de 2015, informó hoy el ministro de turismo Manuel Marrero ante la Comisión de DEL Parlamento Cubano.

Según el informe, los mayores incrementos en arribos se reportan en el mercado norteamericano, que a pesar de las prohibiciones aun vigentes creció 83,9%, seguido por España (69%), Italia (60,5%), Polonia (45,1%) y Alemania (42 %).
Las cifras divulgadas confirman las expectativas de crecimiento del sector, que ya había anunciado el arribo de dos millones de visitantes el pasado 13 de junio; 27 días antes que en 2015, un año en que el país recibió 3.524.000 visitantes.
El informe de Marrero confirma también a Canadá, líder tradicional entre las naciones de mayor emisión de turistas al archipiélago, esta vez entre los mercados que decrecen de forma acumulada.
Ante los diputados a la Asamblea Nacional del Poder Popular, en el Palacio de Convenciones de La Habana, Marrero disertó sobre la marcha de este sector estratégico para Cuba, que se consolidó como la segunda fuente de ingresos del país, con aportes de 2.800 millones de dólares a las arcas nacionales en 2015.

Según Marrero, al cierre del 2015 las agencias turísticas habían contratado cerca de 4.000 arrendadores privados para hospedar alrededor de 555.000 visitantes. Ampliar la capacidad de alojamiento del país es una de nuestras prioridades, dijo, para lo cual se impulsa también la alianza entre la propuesta estatal y la privada, un sector que hoy proporciona más de 16.000 habitaciones y más de 1.700 restaurantes, aunque además, recordó el ministro, ya se alistan nuevas capacidades hoteleras en importantes polos como La Habana, Varadero, Cayo Santa María, Jardines del Rey y Holguín.
