The American request came during a new round of biannual migration talks held in Havana on Thursday.
United States again asked Cuba to accept the repatriation of thousands of Cubans with deportation orders for crimes committed in this country.
“The United States delegation reiterated its position that the Cuban Government must accept the return of Cuban citizens with deportation orders,” said a statement from the State Department.
The US request came during a new round of biannual migration talks held in Havana presided over by John Creamer, Deputy Undersecretary of the Department of State for Mexico and the Western Hemisphere summits and Regional economic policy, and Director-general of the United States of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Josefina Vidal Ferreiro.
Both delegations reiterated the importance of the migratory agreements that promote a safe, orderly and legal migration of Cubans to the United States, says a note issued by the Department of State.
The talks included current trends migration, sea and land, cooperation between the centers of Disease Control and prevention’s of United States and Cuban doctors, as well as the cooperation between the border troops of Cuba and the coast guard service in the United States.
The next round of migratory talks will be held in Washington before the end of this year, said the note.
The Cuban delegation expressed its “deep concern” at the persistence of “feet wet dry-foot” policy and the Cuban Adjustment Act, which granted Cuban citizens a “preferential and unique” immigration deal of its kind in the world, regard the note.
Havana emphasized that these political arrangements and legal American stimulate irregular emigration to the United States, directly from the Cuban territory and also from third countries, including the island’s citizens legally travelling abroad.
At this meeting, the Cuban side came back to reiterate that the “program of Parole for professional medical Cubans”, encourages health partners Cubans in third countries to abandon their missions and emigrate to the United States, a “reprehensible” practice that affects those Nations health programmes and that in his opinion “does not match the current bilateral context”

La solicitud estadounidense se produjo en el transcurso de una nueva ronda de las conversaciones migratorias bianuales que se celebró en La Habana este jueves.
Estados Unidos pidió nuevamente a Cuba que acepte la repatriación de miles de cubanos con órdenes de deportación por delitos cometidos en este país.
“La delegación de Estados Unidos reiteró su posición de que el gobierno de Cuba debe aceptar el retorno de ciudadanos cubanos con órdenes de deportación”, dijo un comunicado del Departamento de Estado.
La solicitud estadounidense se produjo en el transcurso de una nueva ronda de las conversaciones migratorias bianuales que se celebró en La Habana presididas por John Creamer, Subsecretario Adjunto del Departamento de Estado para México y el Hemisferio Occidental en materia de Política Económica Regional y cumbres, y la directora general de Estados Unidos del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, Josefina Vidal Ferreiro.
Ambas delegaciones reiteraron la importancia de los Acuerdos Migratorios vigentes que favorecen una emigración segura, ordenada y legal de cubanos hacia Estados Unidos, explica una nota emitida por el Departamento de Estado.
Las conversaciones incluyeron las actuales tendencias migratorias, marítimas y terrestres, la cooperación entre los Centros de Control y Prevención de Enfermedades de Estados Unidos y médicos cubanos, así como la cooperación entre el Servicio de Guardacostas de los Estados Unidos y la Tropas Guardafronteras de Cuba.
La próxima ronda de conversaciones migratorias será celebrada en Washington antes de que termine este año, concluyó la nota.
La delegación cubana expresó su “profunda preocupación” por la persistencia de la política de “pies secos-pies mojados” y la Ley de Ajuste Cubano, que conceden a los ciudadanos cubanos un trato migratorio “preferencial y único” de su tipo en el mundo, refiere la nota.
La Habana enfatizó en que estas disposiciones políticas y legales norteamericanas estimulan la emigración irregular hacia los EEUU, directamente desde el territorio cubano y también desde terceros países, incluyendo a ciudadanos de la isla que viajan legalmente al exterior.
En esta reunión, la parte cubana volvió a reiterar que el “Programa de Parole para Profesionales Médicos Cubanos”, alienta a los colaboradores de la salud cubanos en terceros países a abandonar sus misiones y emigrar a los EEUU, una práctica “censurable” que afecta los programas de salud de esas naciones y que a su juicio “no se corresponde con el contexto bilateral actual”
