El pasado mes de Julio el Consejo de Estado de Cuba, a propuesta del gobernante Raúl Castro, cesó al hasta entonces ministro de Cultura, Julián González, quien fue sustituido de forma provisional por Abel Prieto, que ya ocupó esa responsabilidad durante 15 años hasta 2012.
La destitución se dio a conocer en una escueta nota oficial divulgada en los medios oficiales, en la que no se mencionaron, como es habitual en Cuba, los motivos del relevo.
