Parawifi is the name of the furniture urban that is can install easily in those areas “lit” with band wide. It’s modular modules according to the needs and available spaces, they are made of biodegradable plastic and equipped with synthetic grass. The system was selected to represent to the country in the first biennial of design of London, that is will be the week that comes in Somerset House. And also are you will see in the biennial Ibero-American’s design of Madrid, in November.

Un dispositivo permite mejorar las condiciones urbanas del uso de la red pública que está cambiando la dinámica social en la isla.

A un año de la llegada de Internet a Cuba la generación wifi se las ingenia para formar parte de la comunicación global. La red pública sólo dispone de 114 espacios de conexión en toda la isla. Estas zonas suelen estar copadas por los usuarios que, para acceder al servicio, tienen que comprar una tarjeta prepaga, a dos 2 dólares la hora (equivalente a 2 CUC, peso cubano convertible).
El furor por la conectividad promueve que lugares como la Plaza de la Revolución, el Balneario Universitario o el Castillito, entre otras, sean las áreas más concurridas de La Habana. Pese a los bajos índices de conectividad (cerca del 1%), la revolución digital se expande y genera nuevas dinámicas urbanas.
Para mejorar la experiencia, los diseñadores Luis Ramírez y Michel Aguilar diseñaron un dispositivo que permite navegar por la web con mejores condiciones. Los módulos apilables cuentan con espacios para adultos mayores y discapacitados, poseen dispositivos de recarga USB que se alimentan a través de paneles solares y promueven la socialización y el uso comunitario.
Parawifi es el nombre del mobiliario urbano que se puede instalar fácilmente en las zonas “iluminadas” con banda ancha. Se trata de módulos componibles de acuerdo a las necesidades y espacios disponibles, son de plástico biodegradable y están equipados con pasto sintético. El sistema fue seleccionado para representar al país en la primera Bienal de Diseño de Londres, que se realizará la semana que viene en Somerset House. Y también se verá en la Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño de Madrid, en noviembre.

En cuanto a la energía eléctrica, la recarga partirá de paneles solares que se encuentran sobre los módulos superiores: “Estos paneles alimentarán una batería que acumulará la energía y podrá ser utilizada a través de los tomas eléctricos y de los tomas USB. También suministrará corriente a los ventiladores de bajo consumo y a las luminarias LED”, explican los diseñadores cubanos.
Repensar los espacios públicos, mejorar la experiencia entre los cibernautas y generar oasis digitales accesibles es una deuda pendiente en Cuba. Parawifi surge como una oportunidad concreta de revertir la situación. El tema de la Bienal de Diseño de Londres es Utopía del Diseño, un disparador que apunta a reformular ideas sobre sustentabilidad, energía y urbanismo. En este marco, el sistema cubano le mostrará su aporte al resto de los 30 países participantes.
