Speaking in Spanish in the Colombian radio network Caracol, Kaine praised the decision by President Barack Obama to resume diplomatic relations with Havana, said he and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton are “big supporters”, but admitted that there are differences between the two countries.
“Still there are issues [that discuss] between United States and Cuba, and must speak and search an agreement in matters of rights human”, said Kaine.
“But we need to have a relationship with Cuba, as well as with other Nations”, said. “Diplomatic relations does not mean that everything is perfect, is a channel for dialogue, and I am very pleased that the relationship between the United States and Cuba is in a new chapter. This link has already opened doors in the Americas with other countries. “I think that is it right for United States, and for Cuba also”, said.

Hablando en español en la red radial colombiana Caracol, Kaine alabó la decisión del presidente Barack Obama de reanudar las relaciones diplomáticas con La Habana, dijo que él y la candidata presidencial Hillary Clinton son “grandes partidarios”, pero admitió que hay diferencias entre los dos países.
“Todavía hay asuntos [que discutir] entre Estados Unidos y Cuba, y debemos hablar y buscar un acuerdo en asuntos de derechos humanos”, afirmó Kaine.
“Pero necesitamos tener una relación con Cuba, igual que con otras naciones”, señaló. “Las relaciones diplomáticas no significan que todo es perfecto, es un canal para el diálogo, y estoy muy satisfecho de que la relación entre Estados Unidos y Cuba está en un nuevo capítulo.
